Mount & Blade: Warband

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 1:51 pm

I saw a bundle deal on 3 Mount and Blade games(probably 1,2 and 3. Warband was noe of them) for dirt cheap(250NOK. A new game costs about 500-600 NOK). Should I try to get it before it is sold out?
I'd say so, yes.

I highly recommend getting the M&B bundle. So many good mods with multiplayer events (like the Vikingr Shield-Wall public event next weekend: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,224759.0.html)

I bought the original M&B in it's early beta stage and played the hell out of it. Warband is even better. Fantastic, addictive game. A truly open game too - you can play it however you want. It's got a lot of depth, and a fantastic combat system. An absolute must buy in my opinion.

And currently on sale on Steam!

Silly multiplayer?

I don't get it.

Awesome horse combat; 200+ players on a server; volley of arrows and a shield... what's not to like?

Edit: Oh and ofc, goofy character faces and people kicking you is just part of the charm.

Ugh. It just looks so dated. I will try the demo.
Well, it is. 3 years or so. Even though it wasn't that long ago, the game was never really made for the graphics. If you can get passed the need for great graphics, then the game is pretty enjoyable.

Also, I haven't really messed with mods yet, and want to start. Can anyone recommend some good (non-multiplayer) mods?

Brytenwalda (set in early medieval Britain) and Sword of Damocles: Warlords (pretty much a much larger version of the original game) are both really good. Lots of people like Prophecy of Pendor as well (more fantasy themed on a tiny campaign map). I hated it myself, but it may be worth looking into. Brytenwalda is my favourite. I haven't played it in ages though, because of the bugged naval combat. It works for some people though, and even if you avoid naval combat there's still tons of amazing stuff to do.

This game is not about graphics indeed. It's all about the combat mechanics which are pretty damn awesome still.

So I noticed this was only 8 bucks on Steam for the weekend, but as usual I can never make heads or tails of whether I have the proper system requirements. Can anyone take a look at this quick run down of my laptop and let me know if it'll run the Warband. I assume the collectors pack which has Mount&Blade, M&B: Warband and M&B: With Fire and Sword has everything I need? I've wanted to try this and its pretty cheap so if I can run it I'd like to get it now at only 8 bucks!

Here's my quick dxdiag:

:slap: I meant I thought this was one of the many unofficial discussion threads for general talk about the game.

Brytenwalda is problably the best SP total conversion for Warband currently out.

I would also reccomend Floris Mod and the updated 1257 AD

I can't seem to get Floris' mod to install. I downloaded it off of Nexus, double clicked the exe, it started, and then nothing. After about ten minutes I just shut down the installer, as I wasn't getting so much as a dialog box.

Any ideas on what went wrong?

Edit: Nevermind. It turns out that Windows Vista was slow in asking me to grant permission.

*grumble vista grumble*
