You might want to consider simply upgrading your existing PC with a new graphics card (and PSU if necessary).

I agree with BootySweat. Don't ever get Alienware they are extremely overpriced.

What would you guys recommend for a PC to last a few years if the price range was from $1500-2000 with however much wiggle room I want. If I think it would be worth it I would even go up to $3000. But that sure as hell better be something just utterly ridiculous.

Build it yourself or buying from elsewhere is fine. Obviously one is more cost efficient than the other.

Yup hijacking the thread.

Have to agree with BootySweat here.

i7 920 to i7 2600 (the locked version, no less) seems like a pointless upgrade, you'd be better of upgrading your CPU cooler, if you haven't already, and overclocking the 920.

Then just upgrade your graphics card. The GTX 555 is pretty weak, and if you've got $1000+ to burn on that Alienware, you could afford to throw just about any graphics card out there into your PC. Anything in the $250+ range would certainly outperform the 555, and leave you plenty of cash to spare for a power supply upgrade too, if your current PSU can't handle a higher end card.
