An accidental hanging in Brazil.

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 7:10 pm

It seems weird to me just as a scene, four minutes - why did the hanging scene even need to last long? Imagine it even lasting one, watching one guy in a noose pretending to get choke for a whole minute.

This is why this story doesn't make sense to me. This must have dragged on longer than the scene was supposed to. On top of this, watching someone really die is much different from an act. I just don't see how one of the actors or someone in the audience couldn't have seen what was really happening.

What amazes me is that the device he was to be hung from was even capable of killing someone. Breakaway rope? Safety harness? How about a fail-safe clasp that releases when too much weight is on it?

I'm amazed that a single error could lead to anyone accidentally hanging themselves. The rope around his neck should have been designed to fail in the event something went wrong. That's all there is to it.
Accidents like this in South America are pretty common. Just saw a video of a police officer from Peru doing a rope demonstration from atop a building attempting to go to the ground.. she hits a live electric wire, electrocuting herself and killing/frying her instantly -- the wire should have been obvious to spot in the rope's path. The point is, no idea why they overlook such blatant dangers and don't go an extra precaution when someone's life is at stake.

I wonder how many deaths they get in Philippines where they actually crucify people with nails and all.

Ain't that bad if done right. I know a few Philippinos who have done it. I am more sceptical to the Ashura festival in Lebanon. Be warned if you google that, expect strong images.

Yeah, because ONE guy=common right?. And peru has NOTHING to do with brazil. Its like watching a video in youtube of an alligator wrestler and saying that all yanks are like that.

Why would anyone think someone hanging by there neck for even a minute is a good idea, let alone waiting 4 to see if he's OK.
Even if it was tied wrongly you shouldn't be putting yourself in a noose unless it's been set up by specilaists at all.

I'm extremely sorry, but I couldn't help but laugh at the title.
On the topic... how? How does one even think that he can survive being hung by the neck for a few minutes? That actor must've really been into his role. Poor guy.

Yeah, because I can and surely care to point out every example I've ever seen in one post. And given these accidents are common in Peru and Brazil, as well as Chile, Paraguay, Colombia, etc., where I regularly read about them, that does mean South America. Calm yourself.

Lots of countries have insanely religious people. But I dont hear about many people asking to be crucified for it.

No I mean they are traditionally religious, no joke I find that here in Canada, they make up about 70-80% of all Roman Catholics! I never heard they practice crucifixion.

I'm pretty sure they don't, but knowing the media, they'd jump on that story in a heartbeat if this was a practice here in Canada as it's pretty hard to hide.

A poster mentioned the Philippines.. I dunno if this type of thing is accepted there.
