[DEVS] Critical Issue with VOIP will prevent any Communicati

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 8:18 pm

Even after my in depth guide to Fireteam Creation and usage, this game is suffering from an extremely detrimental oversight in the games configuration that will inhibit any in-game communication until it is rectified.

This issue is the Default VOIP volume levels, specifically s_volume_voipin_db and s_volume_voipout_db being set to -6...

This causes any player who hasn't fixed this for their client by correcting the configuration using Direct Console Commands or an Autoexec.cfg file with the commands embedded... to have completely inadequate volume levels for their VOIP.

This is unacceptable as even with the utmost work by the player setting up a fireteam and conveying how to use fireteam chat to the other players, the first and last response of most players is "I can barely hear you"

Please keep this thread visible to SD... This issue needs to be fixed immediately

+1000

Nobody is using VOIP because the default volume settings effectively disable it entirely and there are absolutely no functional settings within the game. How has this not been fixed yet?

Yes this is a huge problem. My brother and I have always had to play with Vent running to communicate since this has never worked probably. Please get this fixed, it would go a long way for the quality of the game and help generate better team play and matches in general.

I noticed just yesterday that people were communicating but I couldn't hear them, so I figure some people found a way to make it work.
Could you please, in very easy-to-understand terms tell me how I get the voip working with proper sound levels?
Assume my computer knowledge goes as far as clicking the shortcut to brink and mashing buttons in-game.
I'd really like the sound to work.

I'm willing to ignore missing game sounds as long as I can hear my teammates.

Thank you.
