Having played all the STALKERs through to Call of the Pripyat I was looking forward greatly to STALKER 2 which was being developed by GSC for release later this year on the PC, XBOX360 and PS3 only to find that GSC management had come into 'Disagreements' with the development team and that the STALKER team had left to make their own success in a new games Studio called Vostok Games! So now STALKER 2 sits unfinished waiting for someone else to come along and finish it off so close to release
This has happened with other studios and games before such as Duke Nukem Forever, what one company starts when they come into problems, another can often pick up where they left off!Now I was wondering why can't Bethesda pick up the STALKER franchise and finish off STALKER 2? It would be a match made in heaven, STALKER already has a very big and dedicated (passionate) supporter fanbase in Europe/USA and Asia, and with STALKER 2 close to release that would continue, it has already been in development for a few years! Also STALKER 2 is a RPG/FPS Single Player game, Bethesda have a VERY talented team that did a fantastic job with FO3 set in a similar landscape on a similar scale! It is much easier to pick up a franchise which already has its own fanbase than it is to start off from scratch, i.e what Bethesda Studios did with the Fallout Franchise, not to mention it already has a game nearly finished to be released to a VERY eager supporter base! Bethesda specialise in big open worlded games I think they would be a perfect choice for the STALKER franchise given their size, talent, and proven record with the TES series and FO3, and their experience in RPG's!
What do you guys think? I think it is a Win-Win for Bethesda and GSC? (There were rumors on STALKER's FB page when GSC shuttdown that Bethesda were in talks but that was quickly denied by the previous STALKER team).
