i was just wondering how does one buff himself because that would really be useful to know and i know you can do it and it should be easy but i guess i just fail

On xbox it's clicking in the left stick.

This. On xbox it always shows you what button to push to buff yourself under the health bar when you are playing a class with buffs. Im not sure if it there on PS3 / PC but you can check.

L3 [left stick] on ps 3, but you got to hold it down until it says it worked.
