BRINK Thoughts.....

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 12:35 pm

The first time I saw one of my friends play BRINK it said "Exploring The Ark." First thought I had was, "BRINK is open-world? Nice!" Then I found out it wasn't..... That's why if Splash Damage & Bethesda DO make a BRINK 2 or some type of sequel, I would really like it to be free-roam. That actually won't be bad at all. Like say your with the Resistance, you could live in the "Slums," and you could try to go to the Security area while being shot at by the Security and running away doing Parkour. When it says, "Exploring The Ark," make it ACTUALLY "Exploring The Ark." You could set the whole entire Ark open-world just for you to explore and find some tactical advantage points. Let there be some random fire-fights between Resistance and Security like in the trailer, and some random Security Teams are cuffing some Resistance members, you could choose if you want to free him or if it's too risky you could call some reinforcements and sneakily do a ambush on them when they're about to extract him on a helicopter, where you chase down that Security Bug while the A.I. is trying to flee because he's the only one left. Pretty awesome when I first saw, my mom even said she was definetly going to buy me this game because she thought it was freakin' awesome and unpredictably amazing by how everyone just runs killing the other faction, one guy climbs at the top to kill the sniper then someone else jumps down the container's to drop the maintenance bot on the big guy killing everyone, then flees while doing Parkour. Or you could disguise yourself as a Security member and just see what happens, will you accidently lose your disguise and the Security will make you surrender? Or will you go deeper in the core of the Ark and infiltrate the base inside-out? Or atleast try to..... Bethesda should atleast put in a 4-player Co-Op free-roam, too. Think about it, BRINK 2 could actually be a big hit if you figure out all the tinks with it to make it better. That and some more DLC, like putting in some DLC that has female characters you could be because it's pretty wierd that the whole game is just males.... But no vehicles, I think that will kill it because in BRINK 1 it says that "no shop or plane has been seen in 20 years." There could be a story mission that someone outside of the Ark comes in and tries to take over the Ark or something like that because at the end of the game it shows someone entering or leaving the Ark, can't remember, then MAYBE the Resistance and the Security have to team up. Something like that. I hope Splash Damage and Bethesda read this so they could really think about it real good because I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that thinks about it this way. Bethesda, I'm calling you out here! Anyone else have some good ideas?

Considering that this game was seen as a very minor success or general failure (depending on which side you favor), I strongly doubt there will be another Brink game. That's sad, but not too surprising given the mixed bag reception this one had. I'm all for a sequel, but I'm not holding my breath over it and neither should you. Just sayin'.

I don't know if they are or not but I'm just saying they should. BRINK 1 was pretty good in my opinion, so if they do make another one, I'm positive It'll be a huge hit if they correct everything better. Me, I think they are going to make another one, at the end of the game it shows someone on a boat entering the Ark plus someone, I don't know who, said they have "big plans for BRINK 2 and 3." They can't just leave it like that! Actually they can but it'll leave everyone bummed out due to their high hopes for BRINK 2, including mine. So what I'm basically trying to say is, I HOPE THEY MAKE BRINK 2. Who's with me?

Unfortunately, the studio is at the mercy of the parent company behind it. I think the end decision comes from Bethesda. They've got their hands full with Skyrim right now, but that won't continue on forever as they'll need to look at their next big thing. We can all hope that it's related to Brink, but there's no telling at this point. As for the story and the guy talking about two sequels, that was even before Brink itself had been released. So....

I hope so, too. I'll try and stick with the "glass half full" approach despite that not being my usual mindset.
