Doomed to be a cult classic

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 2:02 pm

It's sad, really. The gameplay, while not without its problems, is entertaining and flexible, the environment design, character design, atmosphere, music and story are fantastic, yet the game failed to sell because of all the technical issues and inevitable comparisons to that-other-hyperstylized-multiplayer-shooter-we-all-know-about. It has its fans, who are a pretty loyal bunch, but unfortunately the game and 10$ DLC (which I can't even buy because I committed a sin of having been born in Russia) is all that left to them. In next generation people will call Brink a cult classic. Maybe by that time fanbase will become big or at least loud enough to get itself a Brink 2.
At least I hope for it.

Down the road Brink will be played in theaters while people cosplay the action for the crowd.

Actually, that sounds pretty cool. Anyone here know David Belle?

I can proudly put Brink right next Wet, also another [Bethesda] cult title in my book.

Hopefully fans will make themselves heard and Brink will have another shot at glory.

Most classics are never appreciated in their own time. Sad really.

I just came here to say I bought this game for ten bucks… and it svcks… I hate FPS games, period.

While the customization is cool and what not, what's the point if I can't even see myself………...

Well, hello, NO GAME IS LIKE THE REAL THING. BECAUSE THE REAL THING IS NOT FUN. Y'know, nobody would like to shoot people with a wildly non-dependable weapon that can jam any minute and every injury is either deadly or guarantees you'll spend a lot of jolly time in a hospital. And even if they succeed in killing people, they'll have to deal with a lot of guilt and stress disorders. Or become completely mothereffing nuts.

The point is that other people can see you? And you can see a lot of yourself in menus and while hacking stuff. Also, your character is present in cutscenes in the beginnings and endings of missions and is doing some stuff.
I hate FPS games, period
Then why did you even bother? You hate the entire genre.

A bunch of mindless, senseless drivle.
More mindless, senseless drivle.

Troll much? I find it funny how you make it your business to mention you're an Ex-Marine and you hate FPS games. So why even bother buying the game? I tell you what you're not an "Ex" in...being a pathetic waste of carbon. At lease a decent troll will keep to the sbubject matter. You don't even like FPS games, therefor your entire argument is mute.

DISMISSED.

I really liked the game but it was a shame it had such a small community on the Playstation 3. I found it myself a really nice game, but it was a bit short. I hope they will make a Brink 2 with a bunch of things they maked better. Really enjoyed it though, but don't played it very long, such as one week. But enjoyed it though.

I will agree with you on the game being overly short, but you have to understand this was a pretty big leap for Bethesda/ Splash Damage and to this day I haven't seen or played any title with as much spirit as Brink. I really want a Brink 2 instead of DLC because they can honestly just iron out all the kinks and what ever have you (hopefully in the next one). I just wish Bethesda would either start working on the new one or just sell the rights of it. Idk maybe Im just being to hopeful for this game.
