Windows Movie Maker Issue

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 9:49 am

So trying my hand at capturing game footage and editing it to something worthwhile... also recently switched from 360 to PC (see sig for specs). Hoping someone can help with this problem...

So I use Fraps to capture, and have learned the ridiculously large Avi files need to be converted to something manageable, and I grapped a program call i(Something) to convert. I don’t think the name of that program is too relevant as it works great.

So now I take the WMV files that are much more manageable and upload them to Windows Movie Maker... I’m able to edit, splice, etc. my 7 minute film... the preview film looks great... the problem comes when I try to save the project to the hard drive. It gets about 12% complete and then the whole screen gets crazy red framing/flashing. This disables all control at the same time so I end up needing to do a harsh shut down/reboot...

Do you think it might be an issue with my graphics card? RAM? I’m a bit strapped after buying this new PC so getting better video software isn’t an option right now...

If anyone has personal experience with this issue and how to solve it I would love to hear it! Other ideas welcome as well!

I assume you've checked that you have enough HDD space to save your completed video to disk.

Oh yes, I have a tetrabyte hard drive and nothing but Skyrim installed, and the mentioned programs...

I'd say most likely it's a problem with whatever ormat the iwhatever program is spitting out.
