Sniper rifle woes!

Post » Sun May 06, 2012 9:53 pm

The sniper rifle jumps out of scope mode every time I pull the trigger. hell knows where the virtual round ends up, but it sure as hell aint where I sent it. I've emptied whole virtual clips right at a lowly mutie's head to no avail.

& so does the authority sub machine gun. It seems to hit its target eventually but it still jumps out of scope mode too.

Can someone confirm or deny that this is happening for them, the jumping out of scope mode, please??

EDIT: Sounds like your experiencing the view changing out of scope view to first person and not the 'jump' the round going off and throwing you off target.

What system are you playing on? What button press do you use for 'scope mode'?

It's more realistic for a high power rifle to jump with the kick of the round going off and scope is sent off target for a moment.

You can get your shot to hit the target at some incredible distances. You have to squeeze off the round at the precise moment to make impact. Maybe try pulling that trigger a little earlier than you have been.

I use the cross bow.

I found the sniper rifle didn't cut it unless it was extreme ranges. The only time I found it useful was during the sniper escort missions.

There's no way to use the crossbow with a scope though right? Just wanna be sure I'm not struggling to see the distant target with the crossbow when there is a method to combine with scope.

No, there is no scope for the crossbow.

I've just gotten use to using it for long distance and precision shots. It really feels more accurate and it definitely has a faster rate of fire and reload time. It also has numerous ammo types that make it worth using in various scenarios. I used the sniper rifle when you have to kill the guys on machine guns posted on the wall just outside Hagar Settlement and the wall just before you enter the prison, and again on the sniper escort jobs. I didn't find it all that useful, I could have cleared those walls with other weapons, the pistol with the monocle and Fatboys or Fat Mamma's loaded is certainly enough for the job.

No problems with the scope for me. I find it very effective when taking out authority or bandits who shoot at me from behind cover.

Yeah the scope works as it should for me as well.
I have it setup just the same as my iron sight, most players probably have it like that.
Although I use my mouse3 to zoom.

Playing on PC and have no problem with the scope so far. Also I think I read somewhere that even though the crossbow doesn't have a scope you can use a scope from your pistol or sniper rifle and switch weapons and the crossbow will shoot exactly where you are aiming... though as long as the target doesn't move.

its definitely a glitch of some sort on my system as its not the kick of the sniper rifle/authority sub machine gun/scoped pistol - all scoped weapons - jump out of scope mode/view when I fire.

I had a look at the "RAGE - Jackal Canyon Official Gameplay Trailer" & the sniper rifle is not functioning like in the video for me.

But after reading MaxxAmmo's first post I thought I would try to assign a keyboard key to scope as I hadn't done that, as I had been using the default "Mouse 2". Then I found that if I pressed the keyboard assigned key the sniper rifle functioned correctly. Even still, the "Mouse 2" still miss-functions. So I guess its fixed sort of, more of a work around really.

Here's my specs... not sure whats relevant so I just put the lot, hope its helpful. I know my gear is outdated but RAGE mostly seems to be running fine. Was even running on older Nvidia drivers for a while.

Microsoft windows XP - 32 bit home edition 2002 version (service pack 3)
Intel core 2 duo CPU
E6850 @ 3.00GHz
2.0 GB RAM
Nvidea GeForce 8600 GT
Driver version: 285.58
DirectX support: 10
CUDA Cores: 32
Core clock: 600 MHz
Shader clock: 1320 MHz
Memory clock: 700 MHz (1400 MHz data rate)
Memory interface: 128 bit
Memory: 512 MB
Memory type: GDDR3
Video BIOS version: 60.84.35.00.11
IRQ: 16
Bus: PCI Express x16

Any suggestions on how I might be able to tweak it so as to be able to toggle the sniper scope on & off like you can with crouch would be much appreciated. Myself as a disabled gamer it can be very difficult to push too many keys & control the mouse/trackball all at the same time. Driving in RAGE for me is extremely difficult because of the steering with keys in single player.

Thanks
