The only thing wrong with Dead Money

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:07 am

Let me start by saying that this was an amazing dlc, had a fantastic story.
the gameplay was like a puzzle type of thing, where moving slow and thinking were key, and surviving and sneaking were the other parts to the game.

EVERYTHING was good, the only thing I hated was the fact that you could not take the new companions back to the Mojave. They were so well done, each had amazing character to them, and out of my list of favorite followers, two of them take 1 and 2.

Whether or not this gets fixed, I just hope for the next dlc's that you are able to take the companions back.

Only thing I hate about it is that PC and PS3 players get ignored and have to wait still no word that we may even get it!.

Spoiler
Dog is bat-[censored] crazy.
God just wants to kill you and everyone else in the casino.
The Merge doesn't have any reason to with you.
Christina has her own mission and it is in Sierra Madre.
And Dean as far as I can tell is too obsessed with the treasure to let it go.

While I do like them, all three of them, they have their reasons to not accompany the PC after the DLC is done.
On the other hand, I do think at least one of them should have been a recruitable companion.

The best follower of all time. Dean is the runner up.

Yea, I definitely feel for you on that one. Though I can understand Bethesda and their choices, business is hard, and people need paid. I'm sure they don't want to try screwing anyone, but I'm sure they want to keep making games and to do that you need money.

Yea. but if you look at it that way, look at followers in the real game:

Why does Boone even follow you? there isn't much of a point, I was surprised when I found there was an option to do so. your character asked out of the blue.
Ronnie does not even know you and she wants to join with you.
You also ask Cass out of the blue too.
Raul doesn't really need to join with you for any reason at all, yet he does.
That one doctor guy, the FOTA guy, he seriously does not have any reason to leave that fort, yet you can ask and he does.

Point is that even if you post something back and if you are right, sometimes joining up with people some don't need a reason. The ones in Dead Money were with you and had to watch your back, and you had to watch theirs whether you wanted to or not. If it was me, I think I could start trusting those people. at least I could trust Christina and Dean. Dog... i mean god.... wait.... OK I would not trust him.

A story is a story, I do sometimes get emotionally involved with a story, I won't lie. but thats the kind of person I am. its not like I don't continue living my life. It's not like I fall in love with someone not even real and can't go to sleep. If you tell a good story, anyone can be swayed by it.

I only trust people I would in rl as I do in a story. just think if you could bring her back. so far I say she ties into the couriers life the most out of all the followers, (at least the ones I used so far) and has ties with some from the Mojave. plus she looks sick, and her skills are what I was looking for in a follower. I need someone who can use energy weapons.

You must get emotionally involved to storys, everyone does. If you even think about this game at all wondering what will happen next then guess what? your emotionally involved.so the fact that you can laugh at those who get involved in videogames is a joke, since these are without a doubt the best storys out there, since you make your own choices.

so my friend, I laugh at you. I do this because you are blinded by the fact that you are emotionally involved to a game because you are trying to be a dike about laughing at me for being emotionally involved with a game. good job.

Well, Veronica wants to see how different communities thrive in the wasteland and figures the best way to go about it is to hook up with someone who has some wasteland experience.
And depending on how you talk to her she might not join you and if you lose that chance you lose it forever.
But yeah she seems a bit too forward with just joining the PC.

Raul is explained through his story to not have anything at all to go to.
Even if you tell him he's free he just sits there, where he has been held prisoner.
Why? Cause he doesn't have much else to do.
He's basically tired of living.
The PC offers him to join up and even if it at first doesn't mean a lot, it gives him purpose.

Cass' life is basically destroyed.
She had nothing but her caravan.
And when it went, so went her will.
The player gives spark to a fire within her to give her life meaning again.
I mean, what else is she suppose to do? Sit around and drink booze all day.

I don't remember much about Boone, but he lost his wife, he apparently hates Manny for some reason and now his life doesn't really serve a purpose either.
No NCR, no wife, no best friend.
Doesn't leave him with a lot of options.
On the other hand, I don't get why the PC gets the option to recruit him on a whim.
Seems kinda sloppily written to be honest.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on any of these points though, cause this is just how I remembered things. ;)

Anyway, so DoGod/Merge seems... Distant... God only wants what's best for Dog, and Dog is too obsessed with following the Master.
And The Merge, we aren't given enough time to speak with him to give him a reason to stick around for the PC.
All The Merge has is a hunch that the PC did something good for him.

Dean is completely obsessed with the treasure, I've tried to talk to him but I can't find a diplomatic solution.
He just wants the treasure, it's the only thing that makes him want to keep on living.
Even after 204 years he still longs after the treasure.
He is a lost cause, like Gollum from Lord of the Rings.

Christina on the other hand is a bit tricky.
I don't know her full story cause I didn't talk too much to her.
So I can't say whether or not it would make sense for her to become a permanent companion.

Manny and his wife are only part of the story. The main reason Boone joins up with you is because he had a "hunch" that he was supposed to go with you when he first saw you in Novac. That "hunch" is explained after his quest is over.

In short, the PC shows Boone, that not all things in life can be controlled and that the only thing one can do is accept the things that have happened and move on with their lives.
