Will Prey 2 be as awesome as its predeccessor?

Thoughts?

I bet it will be :) in fact i'm gonna bet its gonna be incomparable because Prey 2 seems to be rolling over to a RPG territory and is so much more than just a first person shooter with awesome mechanics.

I am personally a fan of Humanhead Studios. i loved Rune and i loved Prey, i bought both and played them through to the end, they kept me entertained for the whole time and they had plenty of replayability, now with Prey 2 they seem to begoing into more of a Roleplaying Territory while mixing up a lot of stuff from games like Mass Effect and Mirror's Edge, and adding some mysterious stealth system, i have not played The Blair Witch Project Vol.2 or Dead Man's Hand, but i'm sure i 'm missing out on those. from what i've seen of Humanhead Studios, they seem to focus a lot on making the gameplay immensively good, make the storyline involving and focus a bit less on graphics, they just seem to make rather simple graphics, but incredibly good games. :goodjob:

Just like Bethesda Game Studios have never let me down, Humanhead Studios haven't, rock on Bethesda Softworks you're slowly rounding up and publishing games from my top 10 favourite gaming companies :)

prey 2? there's something i never thought i'd see... i thought the first game was a bit crap (alright to be honest i thought it was a HUGE. STEAMING. TURD.), with its' PAINFULLY cliche characters and guns that "felt" like there was no force or impact involved. the 'walking on the ceiling' bit turned out to be nothing more than a nauseating gimmick. Portal did it better * infinity. i'm hoping they've learned from this though, as the premise is good and this could actually be a decent game to save the first one from generic crappiness. actually strike that -- nothing can save the original from generic crappiness. it was rubbish. awful, AWFUL rubbish. i saw it at my local supermarket for a fiver. it's THAT BAD.

i really hope these "rpg" elements you speak of involve more than XP and unlockable weapons, because that's what i'm expecting from this generic unremarkable trash.

@above : dude, em, there is not a game that has been made that does not have generic characters, so what are you talking about? in that regard prey was no worse than average, there are no grounds to say that it was. and besides, since when does anyone judge a game on the characterisation? especially five years ago. Except of course bioware fans, who, by definition, seem to prefer it when poor characterisation actually gets in the way of the gameplay.

and the upside down stuff was great, the only problem i had with the game was that the lighting was too much, too often there would be a dark area, and upon closer inspection it was a wall covered in three inches of black, which made no sense, and the high contrast overall i found was too high, it ended up hurting my eyes a bit.

apart from that, it's one shooter i will play, because it's inventive and the setting and premise are interesting.

I really wonder if it will keep the nasty/gross moments of the first one.
Like when the alien machine processes humans to absorb their protein,or those anus-shaped holes that puked human body parts.

Basically you want it to stay a horror game. i agree :)

I think this game can turn out to be incredibly awesome, maybe even more than it's predecessor.

From the info it looks like it's going to be a lot different than the first game, I hope they keep some of the awesome elements from Prey 1.
I can hardly imagine how awesome combining parkour and reversing gravity would be.

I also hope the game has the same creepy atmosphere that the first one had.

What system were you playing
the computer and play station were [censored] alright
But the 360 got it spot on
Plus some parts were just plain out creepy and made me a little scared
I like how the new trailer features the plane (the one we see just flying into the ship)
But I hope this doesn't mean we will be playing on the same ship as before. I was really hoping to see this all important destiny that we were told of on the last cut scene.

I was playing on PC of course. for me this is the only way to play shooters that don't have fully automatic aim. otherwise i just look in circles and don't hit anything like a turtle on its back.

I would hope that Prey 2 far surpasses the mediocrity that is Prey (1). I'll admit that for the short time that the game lasted, I enjoyed it; in a mindless fun kind of way. However, the story was crap, and a little cheesy in places - again I'll admit I enjoyed the creepy elements to the game (like you "girlfriend" being strapped to an alien thing). The multiplayer was poo, but who bought the game for the mulitplayer. It was also beyond piss easy. You could not die. End. Of.
Aside from being mindless fun, it was not worth the £40 spent on it; it was more of an Ebay jobby, due to being too effing short
But, all in all, I'll give Prey 2 a look in.

such harsh words :( people really disliked the first prey just about as much as i dislike counter-strike (so crappy). i thought Prey was well worth my money but yes you've got a point about it being mindless, but theres not very many horror games that i finish. this is one of the few that i did. as for cheesy storyline and main characters, i do kindof agree, i did not like the character i played, worthless cowardly bastard. but this was also one of these rare shooter games where you're not playing some badass duke nukem commando guy, you're just playing a sissy farmer boy thats stupid and selfish. its a rarity from a certain perspective. and the brutality certainly wasn't lacking.

Imo the original Prey was underrated, Its been a budget game for years yet I had more fun playing it than any COD games that are still sold for 50 euros years later...
