[REQ]Wild Wilderness w/o waiting a trait.

Post » Thu May 26, 2011 8:16 pm

I want to be able to have the Wild Wilderness trait on all my characters while still being able to pick useful traits. Could somebody make a mod that would remove it from the trait list and instead, just add it to the player automatically?

I know you can do it through the console, it'ed just be nice to have it in mod version.

Hm...why would you prefer to clog your load order with another plugin when you can just do it through the console..?

There are also several mods on Nexus that removes the level requirement for perks.

A mod is easier to use than: Start FNV -> New Game -> Add Trait -> Save Game -> Quit FNV -> Start FNV -> Load Game -> Resume Playing ;)

I'm still annoyed that saving regularly with the console lost me all the achievements I'd have gotten in my first ~60 hours .-.

....Your reasoning is flawed.

You can load your current game, enter the command, save, quit the game and bam. All achievements should work fine.

Hm....why would you need to start a new game to add this trait? Why would you save via the console?

???

I'll never understand requests for mods that perform functions easily done through the console. Having played modded OB and FO3, my main concern has always been how to maintain a clean and stable load order of ever increasing number of mods, to which redundant mods are always a detriment.

It seems I was misunderstood by most of the people in this thread. Personally, I'd rather have a mod that does this because otherwise I have to restart the game in order to get back the ability to acquire achievements and doing so every time I started a new game would quickly get annoying. Maintaining a "clean load order" is fine and all, but pretty much irrelevant with a mod like this.

And I was saving with the console for my first ~60 hours because... it's easy? You just type "~save savename" and the game creates a new save. It's much faster than using the GUI (and lets you name your saves). I don't care THAT much about achievements, but I was pretty annoyed when I realized they weren't propagating to Steam because of how I was saving my game.

Whatever, it's your game. I am just used to looking at "random CTDs! check my load order!" posts in the OB and the FO3 boards where countless posters have mod lists innundated by useless excess.

I not sure I am persuaded that the console method is "easier" than the GUI method, It's certainly not less keystrokes....however, you might find the Incremental Saver useful in this instance then, if you did not already know about it. It does what you want, except for the custom naming of saves. It works great for me because I play using an XBox controller emulator (where accessing the console is most certainly more complicated than just saving via the game menu).

Yeah, I saw the incremental saver and plan to use it in my next game. Right now I'm messing around with my own mod ideas after finishing my first game, so I'm not really actively playing at the moment. The incremental saver was posted exactly a day after I finished (according to the date on my hardcoe achievement), so I haven't had a chance to use it yet.

Anyway, to each his own on the saving thing. Typing words is not really 1:1 keystroke-equivalent with interacting with a GUI via either keyboard or mouse so it's kind of apples and oranges. Personally, I'd rather type a command completely at my own pace than pausing and validating that the correct item is selected between keystroke, but that's just me. In any case, sorry for derailing the topic by being vague about my point the first time.

I didn't disable the part of the script that strips Wild Wilderness when you are given the chance to rebuild your character. The file has been updated to fix that.

Is it problematic at all to add the perk later in the game?

Updated again so existing characters with Wild Wasteland get to keep it and choose two other traits.

I wouldn't think so. You may have missed some things though.
