What is this about no lobby system?!

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:00 am

So ive been reading the reviews, and a bunch of them are just BS. But, some have pointed out that there is no lobby system, and that is definitely unforgivable in my opinion. little details like this are what brings down a game like brink to an 8 instead of a 9.

But just to clarify, is the lack of lobby system only for co-op or also for competitive gameplay? Seriously, this is the first thing they should change/add with the first patch.

Before people come in and flame you down.

I agree 50/50 - I have to PLAY and TEST the game first to know how the mechanics runs and the problems are.

But my main concern is the fact that "Alot" not just a few - alot of people are complaining about how difficult it is to setup a "Normal co-op game with 5+ players" - Its a random gamble.

Constant switching about - randomly judging whos on what team.

I feel for a game that specialized in "Teamplay" - maybe not a "lobby" but something....with a decent "Friend matching system" - where you simply, invite 5-6 friends, they all join your team...and you attack the mission! simples!

But apparently theres alot more strategy too it, alot of tweaking and messing around with the drop in drop out systems etc.

Still waiting for clarification on this.

Why would i get flamed for this? this is a very valid topic. And a friend matching system would not work. i dont want to just play with friends. i want to play with randoms too. even more, i want to join a lobby and start a game full of people and not need bots. I dont want to start a game by myself and hope that gradually people start joining in.

You will get flamed mainly for the fact that this topic has been brought up more than 5 times now - including the "PC Tech" section wheres theres already a topic open for it.

Secondly - The lobbying feature straight away puts people into reminder of "COD" - COD = bad, in here.

Anything remotely linking too it, will be shot down.

The system setup is what people like here and they will defend it regardless of valid reasoning.

So.... But yea - Need to find out more on this when people are done with SP - and the patch comes out!

i would suggest mentioning which platform your talking about...but i've just realised it may be in your signature. i turn those things off so the forum is a less confusing read. mind mentioning it anyway?

I've heard the same and it worries me....

But yeah, I can imagine some CoD-Killers having ago for the same reasons as Sadiro said.

And, i know people hate game comparisons, but hey? It works don't it?

I'm thinking a simple lobby like L4Ds would do just great. Nothing more, nothing less.

I dont understand...lobbys have absolutely nothing to do with COD! that is, cod did not invent lobbies. As a matter of fact, i think brink is literally, the first fps multiplayer game that i have ever seen that does not have a lobby system. i saw that some people said that it was meant so that people would not have to wait, but that is [censored]. i would much rather wait a couple of minutes and start a game from scratch will all 16 human players rather than begin a game by myself and have people gradually come in.

oh the pre launch lobbies. yeah sorry most pc games lack lobbies. you just launch straight into the game. i would agree that pre launch lobbies are better on the consoles though. i'd hate to miss the initial cutscenes on maps i've never played before

Thats where my problem comes in.

Ive got a few friends joining me on brink that ive got on board.

Why cant we all just start the game together.

Whats with this "You have to join or invite during cut scenes to get someone into your game" - So i or my friends have to miss out on valuable cut scenes and stuff - so we can join a game mid way through?

Doesnt make sense!

if your on xbox can't you just use the party system? or did brink somehow disable it just to annoy people

if your on pc i have no idea how to stay together. i guess i'll learn through brink.

if your on psn i have a vague idea of what's wrong

It works for talking yeah, but you'd still have to keep inviting into games.

I was in a party earlier and there was a Party tab in the menu. I selected it but my party members weren't playing Brink. I'll try it again later once people get their copies and can play.

Cool, that probably means you can all start a match together.I would be surprised if its not possible.
