So the .dll fix that helped everyone with the NPC framerate drop doesn't work for people with nVidia Optimus for some reason. The launcher simply loops and we are unable to launch the actual game at all.

Anyone who has an Optimus card and is experiencing this problem please post here. Also anyone who has any ideas or potential fixes please feel free to contribute.

i am one of the guys in same boat as you, driving me nuts but lets see wat happens

It's a shame, really. What bad luck that we're the only players for whom it doesn't work...

I've got a laptop with Optimus 325 that plays Crysis Warhead, Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age, and Fallout 3 wonderfully. This game lags like crazy. Luckily the game plays OK on my main rig with dual 4850's in Crossfire. But still, I was looking forward to playing it on my laptop. I really wish steam had a 24hr grace period like the android market does, because I would return this game in a heartbeat as a message to the developers that this type of problem is unacceptable.

That dll was used for Fallout 3 so it would force intel graphics to run (otherwise it wasn't supported). Optimius is probably going with the lowest common denominator and using Intel, right? Might be able to hex edit the dll, but wouldn't know what to look for or what to change. Other than waiting for an official fix, is it okay to disable optimus (is that even an option?) or possibly force it to use the nvidia GPU in the control panel for this profile? Disabling optimus if it's even possible to do so would hurt battery life obviously, but if you're gaming it might not matter

In the NVIDIA Control Panel if you force the game to use the integrated graphics card the game will start... but since it's using that wimpy card it is hardly playable (luckily the low FPS doesn't get any worse around NPC's).

For some reason if you force the game to use the more powerful card, the launcher simply loops. We need to figure out what is happening that is causing it to loop.

well, the only thing i have tried is to disable the intel hd graphics, but that jsut makes my screen go completely black, seems like nvidia cant kick in unles intel graphics is at least on, which make s it the default graphics card

Hoping that the tech monkeys over at obsidians see this and resolve our problem so we don't feel that this game is a total rip off. I don't remember the last time I bought a completely new car with a busted engine.....
Anyways, thanks in advance for any help.
Here's my DXDIAG (by the way obsidian won't properly address your problems without your DXDIAG, check the sticky to learn how to do it and don't forget to include them in your posts.)

Cheers

i am with you on that,if i could return this piece of crap i would.

You might be able to. You can go in, receipt in hand, and say "this thing is broken, I want my money back." Couldn't hurt to try, sometimes it works.

Assuming you bought a physical version of the game. So out of luck if you downloaded it digitally!

Did everyone here update their drivers to those released last week? I just realized I hadn't done that yet.

did that do the trick for you, cause i can only download drivers from asus, seeing as how they manufactured and did the setup for the optimus settings

Nope, didn't work. I'm thinking we'll have to wait for an official patch, which could be weeks away... :(
