Possible Fix for Outside random pauses

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:27 am

So i have been testing all the settings to see which one/s made my PC randomly pause outside

My PC setup
I7 920@ 4.0ghz
6Gb Ram
x-25m SSD
GTX285

Game settings Ultra:
When i started the game up everything ran perfectly smooth, once i headed outside if i moved my mouse quickly to look around i would have a micro pause that was less than a second then it would go back to 60FPS, over and over again.

no matter what i did with the graphic driver setting either through nHancer or NCPL i had this problem, so i decided to 1by 1 change setting until i found the culprit and i did...

it seems that there is 1 problem that can be multiplied by other settings

Water Tab: Reflection Quality
- Seems if this is set to high no matter where you are outside if you mouse look quickly it will give you this micro pause. if you change this to medium and set everything else to the highest settings there is no pause whatsoever.

- Full Scene Reflections & Full Detail Reflections Magnify this pause if Quality is set to "High", however if you set water quality to medium these both can be checked without any issues.

Please note that these settings are for machines that are above average and are typically limited to the amount of memory onboard your GPU.
Also note i was using the custom "d3d9.dll" that forces the game to not emulate Directx 9.

This seemed to help it for me also even though there's no visible water anywhere around me. Good find.

Fixed for me but instead of medium I had to set it to low. I also have the dx9 dll file fix. Before these two changes the game was unbearable.
