It gets worse

When I first started playing Fallout: New Vegas things weren't so bad. Early on I experienced 2 crashes in 20 hours of gameplay, never got stuck in loading screens, or encountered any bugs requiring me to revert to an earlier save. I can't say any of that is true anymore. I take back anything I said defending the state of this game, after encountering 3 crashes in 2 hours and needing to revert my save games 2 times this weekend, I've realized that all of the problems that make the game damn near unfinished don't crop up until after the halfway point.

For example, one time today when entering a building the game didn't just crash, it suddenly quit. I found myself staring at the XMB after a few seconds inexplicably.

Bethesda and Obsidian need to fix this game ASAP and give us a least 1 installment of free DLC to make up for this crap.

EDIT: By the way, anyway I disagreed with about the state of the game on the forums before while defending the glitches, I apologize. I was wrong.

Yeah, once the save file gets big enough the game just goes to hell... I can tell with a save file of about 4000 kb its all ready going down hill it was fine and tolerable at about 2-3k kb's but now its just ridiculous the frame rates are very slow I'm at the point in the game where I have to get Benny at the tops but frankly I'm scared to enter the strip. I'm probably just going to shelf NV til a patch comes out in 3-4 weeks. (I hope)

I'm getting scared reading all of this. To date I've had only one crash (had to eject the disk and re-insert) , many frame rate stalls, some enemies disappearing halfway into the ground and a few problems with NPC's getting left behind (i.e.had to re-enter the lobby in novak to get "her" to follow me to Dinky). My saves are approaching the 3.5 meg size and I'm just now doing the REPPCON mission. I'm wondering if I should stop playing as much until another patch is released or just keep going at this pace and press my luck (or stop reading all of these comments that are making me paranoid). I'm hoping I may be a lucky one and get by with only a few crashes and still be able to finish the game, I guess only time will tell. I do know there was an earlier post on this forum about disabling your PS3's internet connection in the XMB , that helped the framerate stalls almost completely dissapear, try it on your console and please let me know if it helps you as much. Good Luck

I wouldn't worry about it if your at about 3.5 megs and had only 1 crash your doing all right, hell you should be good for a while you're probably one of the lucky ones on PS3 but as for me I'm thinking about just shelving it till they get a patch that fixes the lot of these problems and while they're at it why not fix the many quest bugs and dialog stupidities. but right now its well kinda like this :banghead:

I've come to the conclusion that there aren't "lucky ones" and "unlocky ones" it's all a matter of which areas people have been to. Certain places are unstable, others work fine. Camp Forlorn Hope is a great example of a broken area.

so, paid $80 for a game, and I'm getting more fun out of the stuff that came in the collector's edition. yep, getting more fun out of a deck of cards, then a game.
