Brink Hopes and Fears?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:52 pm

It is my sincerest hope that brink is as groundbreaking, unique, and fun as SD intends. What I really am looking forward to is finally having an immersive FPS instead of just random killing with no context. Online Co-Op with several friends instead of the 2 player LAN only limitations other games sometimes have. Weapon customization has always been a huge favorite of mine. And finally, a game without one shot snipers. I admit that snipers take skill, but as a rifleman, it just kinda ruins the enjoyment of the game when you repeatedly die with barely a chance to return fire.

I am a bit apprehensive though, waiting to find out about the details, and how everything comes together. Each individual idea I hear about seems like an amazing idea. The RPG elements, SMART, blended single and multiplayer, endless customization, weapon modifications, even little things, like the upside down skill tree - offering the most powerful abilities first. But what happens when its all combined? For example, if there's shoddy shot registration, it could become impossible to kill a light while they are bouncing off of walls all over. It seems like SD is doing their best to really nail this game, but with so many innovative ideas, I just fear that one or more may fall flat. Not a big fear mind you, as this is all coming from a person without much money yet has already pre-ordered. lol

one shot kill from snipers is STILL better then Random shooting from grenade launchers that in most game's are extremely overpowered.

true, but a grenade launcher has it's uses, aside from the apparent use.
i myself like to use it to take out camping people, especially wallhacking campers

Like killing snipers in Half Life. Sometimes the only way to get a clear shot is to blow up the room.
