No House? For Real?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:36 pm

I've spent over 350 hours in Fallout 3. And over 60 of them was me setting up cool stuff in my Megaton house. I decorated it so awesome and LOVED doing it.

I'm 8 hours into New Vegas and haven't been given a house yet. Can anyone verify there is NO house? Or am I just not far enough?

I'm using the Doc's house to store stuff but I need my own place man!!!!!

There are houses, even I know that. You're just not far enough.

There are several houses you have access to. In Goodsprings, Victor's house is your house. Past Primm, you'll find Prospector's Den inhabited by some Jackals. Clear them out and toss the bodies in the sleeping room.

I hear if you gamble at one of the casinos enough they give you a free suite or something. I heard this in a gameplay video though, I don't know for sure. I don't own the game yet. :sadvaultboy:

You can even use Easy Pete's house in Goodsprings, (a room in it), if you don't mind having Pete sleeping in the next room at night.

I just use the empty trailer behind the shop and tavern in Goodsprings. Nice location, fast travel and just head straight between the buildings. It's not in a building so there's no loading screen either. Just hop in, unload gear, take a quick nap and get back at it.

You can perma-rent a room at Novac too. Kind of like The Weatherly hotel in Rivet City in F3.

ok, this gives me some hope, but nothing like the Megaton house? Or Tenpenny Suite? I liked those because you were Supposed to have them, just finding a random house to squat in isn't as fun.

No title deed to a house is what i'm hearing then.

There are certain houses provided in the environment where they are in so many words inherited by you, the player. They are the flashiest houses in the area. Victor's House in Goodsprings and the Prospector's Den are examples. The Prospector's Den has a soda machine, an ammo workshop, and an Enclave weapon's crate. Keep an eye out for these places as they make good hideouts.

Alternatively, just wait. Personal home mods are coming.

The Prima guide says you get a room at the Lucky 38 Casino in Vegas, however I have not found any info on How you aquire it, wether it be via quest or if you have to gamble or its just yours... However it also mentions you CAN decorate it and buy furniture for it.

I've been slumming it. Selling most everything to keep weight down and sleeping where ever I can. I would like to have a good place to stockpile items. I was expecting a little place in goodsprings (with a deed. sad face)

Novac has a house you are able to obtain as well (i.e they give you a key). I also have a house (room) in both the lucky 38 and the Tops casino.

I've been "crashing" @ Easy Pete's place since I started the game. As far as squatting goes, it's pretty decent, there's a mostly free bed (I saw a Goodsprings resident sleep in it once) with a couple of containers next to it and you have a "roommate", Easy Pete that doesn't mind you are there. :P

It's pretty close, due south from the Saloon/Goodsprings Fast Travel landing point and you are really close to the store, saloon and workbenches.

I do miss an "official" house like we had in Megaton. It would be cool if we could have the crafting workbenches and the other amenities setup in there and maybe a fireplace that can be used like a camp fire.

Hopefully anyone who's gotten no sleep over this games comes up with a for sure resident soon cause as of right now. I'm in that Dino Dump, Novac. I was super stoked for the Lucky 38 suite but had a feeling it was only for the Main Quest so I didn't bother buying anything for it.

I had found an abandoned bunker near the memorial by Goodsprings that you can use as a house, has a workbench and everything. Just watch out for the giant Radscorpions in the area. Also, take note of the Legion's warnings about Deathclaws there too. Though, I have yet to see one.
