Big Empty?

?This area is heavily alluded to in the Dead Money DLC, anyone else thinking that there might be a future DLC located there?

I think is "no" and they don't add that place. Big Empty is just reference place by Dead Money and the location is next to Sierra Madre.

I dunno, I distinctly remember getting +1 to the challenge that says "learn about your future travels- all the way to the end of the road" when I talked to Elijah about the Big Empty.

Plus, he said the Big Empty had a lot of Advanced Pre War tech in it, including the foundations for the advanced stuff found in the Sierra Madre, like the Ghost People's Hazmat Suits, the Holorifle, the Holograms, and the Vending Machine.

He also implied that was only the tip of the iceberg, that there was a lot more great stuff there. So why not have a DLC located there? It would give us a chance to get more holorifles, maybe even other holo-weapons, a holographic companion perhaps, a cool STALKER style Hazmat suit, and much more hi-tech stuff.

The Big Empty could perhaps be the Fallout version of Area 51, I mean, it's in the middle of the desert in real life- that sounds like a "Big Empty" to me. Maybe most of it is preserved because the vast desert keeps most people away from it.

The Big Empty also sounds like it might be the Fallout version of Silicon Valley, what with hits high density of tech and research facilities. Of course, there's not as much silicon involved, considering that vacuum tubes are more prevalent than microchips, although I do believe that I read somewhere that the Fallout verse DID invent the microchip/semiconductors, just much later than we did IRL. You can also see what looks like wafer-thin computer components in the pile of "scrap electronics".

Either way, Area 51 or Silicon Valley, I wanna go there!
Plus, you might find evidence of whatever Elijah, Ulysses, and Christine were up to there before, which would be a nice tie in to Dead Money as well as further foreshadowing of the Divide DLC that we all know is coming.

Well as the big empty is a part of Tibbets prison, and we were meant to start there in van Buren, which many of the secs at obsidian worked on, I'm saying that they'll take us here, like they're going to with New Canaan in 'Honest hearts' dlc

Who knows if tibbets prison will be there. The Tibbets Prison replaced the concept of the big empty for Van Buren, so we don't know exactly what will be in the Big Empty aside from high tech facilities.

Although the fact that Elijah got bomb collars from there does suggest some sort of prison facility, and the medical facilities there that did horrific experiments on people were possibly experimenting on prisoners.

All in all, I think the Big Empty would be a very interesting place to explore and loot.

Also he said thats where he got the collars that explode I think. But anyways I would really like a DLC like the Big Empty.

Yeah, I think they used the collars to keep their test subjects in line when they did terrible experiments on them.

I wonder where paradise falls slavers got theirs though. Probably in the same place they got the mesmetron.

There's an awful lot of foreshadowing in Dead Money, almost as if the combined DLCs will comprise a separate big quest. That's going to be tricky.

It's a prison, if I'm not mistaken, Ulysses was in there. But that's just a fragment of my memory from my conversations with Elijah and the wiki.

EDIT: The holograms there were meant to keep the prison secure, but the technology was not perfected, so Elijah left it for the Sierra Madre. It's my prediction that the man with the destroyed collar in freeside has some affiliation with Dead Money or Ulysses.

I am hoping the big empty is a FO version of Area 51, with the prison and medical type facilities locatin in the top 2 floors of a very deep underground structure that has some high security protecting some sweet prewar loot just begging to be taken.

There's no evidence that the big empty and the divide are going to be the same DLC dude.

They wont. That would be stupid. The Big Empty will no doubt be a seperate DLC from the Climactic Battle at The Divde.
After all where else are we gonna find the armada of powerful pre-war tech to beat Ulysses to death with?

To clear things up, "The Big Empty" and "The Great Divide" will both be future, separate dlc's. There are also still a minimum of four dlc's left to be made. My hopes for The Big Empty is that it is a FO version of Area 51, I would love to explore and loot that place dry. For The Great Divide, I'm expecting Obsidian to tie that in with all the other dlc's and the story, it seems that way so far which will be very interesting. So let's cross our fingers and hope we aren't ticklin' our own pickles here.
