Lovecraft-inspired Radio Drama On The Bbc?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:14 am

Weird Tales seems to be a series of radio plays inspired by Lovecraft's work. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00hd4np/Weird_Tales_Bleeder/Looks like there's only one that's been aired so far.To be honest, "inspired" is a bit misleading. I get the impression that the writer was given one paragraph of Lovecraft prose, and worte a story inspired by that. (This one, for example, is about dreams, but there's no reference to the dreamlands.) It is rather good, although the link to Lovecraft is pretty tenuous. Still, the mere fact he's flitting around the broadcasting consciousness is always nice to know.

Would http://www.codecguide.com/download_real.htm work? It's what I use when I need to play Real Media.Woah. Now that I think about it, I have only one single file that's RM.

Since the show isn't that Lovecraftian it would not be too inappropiate, I hope, to add a couple of other shows:http://relicradio.com/shows/taxonomy/term/4?page=1Has a variety of episodes from different radio shows available under the "The Horror!"You can listen to them on their website, download them as mp3's, and they are also available as podcast for the iPeople. If the episodes have caught your interest, the good old http://www.archive.org might be an invaluable source of enjoyment. http://www.archive.org/details/HermitsCaveOTRKIBMhttp://www.archive.org/details/OTRR_Certified_Dark_Fantasyhttp://www.archive.org/details/LightsOutCollection-OTRKIBMhttp://www.archive.org/details/PriceOfFear-OTRKIBMhttp://www.archive.org/details/Macabre_35http://www.archive.org/details/CBSRadioMysteryTheater65episodesPage1http://www.archive.org/details/QuietPleasehttp://www.archive.org/details/sealedbookKIBMotrhttp://www.archive.org/details/Creeps_By_Nighthttp://www.archive.org/details/WeirdCircleOTRKIBMhttp://www.archive.org/details/TheWitchsTaleHqhttp://www.archive.org/details/MysteryintheAirAnd so on, and so forth...free and legal. Well, maybe not entirely free as it might come at the price of fear! Muahaha :cthulhu:I would like to recommend http://relicradio.com/shows/node/530 by Lights Out. A story inspired by the crimes of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._H._Holmes. And remember, smoke Camel. Camel, a product of experience. The brand most preferred by Doctors. Listen to the Mask of Medusa, and you know what I'm talking about.http://www.quitdoctor.com/images/oldCamelAd.jpghttp://www.quitdoctor.com/images/oldtzonead.jpgTrust that T-Zone, people! I pity the fool who does not trust the T-Zone.

This is such a great idea. They really need to bring back the old radio story telling. It sparks the imagination so well.
