I've begun playing the first Robert D. Anderson game today. I paid only the equivalent of 7 dollars, so it was quite cheap.Although I havent played it much yet, I am somewhat disappointed. I was looking forward to playing a Lovecraft-game made by Lovecraft-fans, but the parts of the game I've played so far, could just as well have been made by Wolfenstein-fans. Wandering about in hallways and rooms, shooting nazis. I dont particularly like the (to me) tricky and taxing jumps you need to make to advance in the game. You need to jump up on boxes, jump from there to balconies, jump from boxes onto pipes and from there to new balconies etc. I'm sorry, but making tricky jumps over and over again, to advance, is not Lovecraftian Horror to me. It's just frustrating. My biggest problems with the jumps is, that somehow you get the impression, that you've missed out on certain areas of the game, because you decided it was impossible to make jumps - thinking that you're not supposed to be able get up there anyway, but having doubts. Because doors are so frequently used as graphics-details instead of "real" doors leading you to new rooms, you always get that feeling that you're going to get stuck later on, because you didn't check doors that (if they were in fact real doors) could have led you to valuable items or information. Tiresome. So far (25 minutes in), I'd say that the only reason I should ever continue to play the game, would be that I'm very fond of Lovecraft and need the occational fix.
