The Strange Adventures Of H.p. Lovecraft

Take a gander at this morsel: http://movies.ign.com/articles/966/966564p1.htmlIt's hard to form an initial reaction since the graphic novel isn't out yet, and Howard can direct movies ranging from gawdawful to greatness.

wow beaten to the chase, I thought I had this news hot off the press but noooooooo.I have talked to Adam Byrne before and I really like his graphic novel, but it is always good to point out that the rights have been bought, that does not automatically mean a movie is going to get made, a lot of novels get 'optioned' and only a fraction actually gets directors and producers attached. Still if this gets green lighted I'd be front of the line at the cinema.

Ron Howard is truly a bad choice. I hope they hire a more apt director.

Del Toro is my only pick for a Lovecraft movie, but who knows, maybe Howard is a massive Lovecraft fan who's just been waiting for the right film to come along.

ugh... was my first impression of the idea.I agree that Ron Howard is sometimes akin to a sugar-coated Spielberg Jr., which isn't always bad... but I'm not convinced that his director's eye will mesh with his perception-of-audience-chemistry on this project. He's better-suited to do a bio of someone like Erich Von Daniken, who endured a storm of intellectual-ridicule (drama) bringing his fabulous postulations to a world-stage.The Robert E. Howard-bio was apt, because it was shot as a love-story... and the script avoided the temptation of being 'aware' of its target-audience.

I would pick either John Carpenter or Del Toro.

I hear rumours of an altered script:Lovecraft's granddaugther is trying to sell the Necronomicon on Ebay. She seeks to impress this hunky starspawn by amassing the worlds most complete collection of shokushu goukan. However, a group of cultists with sleazy russian accents, are on to them and try to steal the Necromicon. They intend switch the toilet paper in the White House with the pages of the Necronomicon, its mind shattering effects turning Obama into Osama! :cthulhu:Co-director: M. B.Writers: Orci & Kurtzman
