LOD and you.

I was curious as to peoples opinions on LOD and if it effects whether or not you would play a mod? Do you think it is one of those "must have" things for mods with new world spaces? How much are you willing to tolerate before it is just down-right annoying?

LOD = level of detail?

If so, I'm kind of a svcker for things like that. I like it if a mod manages to blend in with the game perfectly. But I do not mind the absence of details all that much until it becomes obvious that I'm not playing the vanilla game, as that takes its toll on immersion for me.

It was a big, big boon for the Hummer mod I have in the works to have that alternate worldspace having correct-looking LOD, but realize that the worldspace involved is a duplicate Wasteland. The player's already seen the LOD of the "real" wasteland, and him suddenly having it missing was sorta.... meh.

If its a brand new worldspace, maybe the effect is not so bad, as long as the designed area doesn't let you constantly look around a huge landscape (and therefore see the flaws of no LOD).

Well I am trying to make a small stretch of the I-15 not far southwest of the Nevada/California border, which for the most part is dead flat with mountains surrounding everything (Many miles away mind you).

I can understand why it would be wanted, as I myself would want it, however, the generation of such a landscape as what I am working on would be near impossible and impractical.

I notice the absence of LOD immediately. While it isn't a deal-breaker, I need to have a damn good reason to otherwise use a mod that doesn't include it for new lands/etc.

Hey echo, remember the 1+1=1 wedding mod?

My skyscraqer http://s633.photobucket.com/albums/uu56/old_andy/?action=view¤t=Whatbuilding.jpg&newest=1. (the pic was taken just inside the draw zone. Literally on the border.)

That svcked eggs.

It's one of my biggest constant headaches that I have to get right, before I continue with what I'm doing -among many, many other things.. :D
