No DLC extending game past the ending

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 3:20 am

Jason Bergman has stated that one thing that will not be appearing in a DLC is the ability to extend the game past the ending. So I have been wondering about clothing, weapons, and consumables that are only available in the quests "All or Nothing," "No Gods, No Masters," "Eureka!," and "Veni, Vidi, Vici." Does Bethesda plan on adding ways to acquire General Oliver's uniform, Blade of the East, and other such items through game play in any of the upcoming DLC? Being a console player PS3 to be specific really limits the gameplay options but hasnt me from jammin out at least three hours a day. Just be sure to add more weapon mods like silencer for Assault carbine in upcoming DLC and keep the patches. :tops:

I to am a console player on the Xbox 360 and find it very unfortunate and dull not having any mods like the PC users (curse my Mac!). I don't see them really making those items able to require in future DLCs, it just wouldn't really make sense.

As a crazy collector of all uniques, I am a bit miffed that I can't aquire all of those items from the end quests, but I view it as better then going in and adding a bit of extra quests after the endgame to "Open the gameplay up" and such that would ruin the game's storyline.

I don't see the need to play after the game. I like how it ends, allowing play after the end would ruin it. I also don't see why you would want to acquire blade of the east or the general's uniform. I think it is better they remain mysterious. I would rather them add new weapons and new areas.

I would love to rip sh... um, stuff up with the Blade of the East, whilst scaring the snot out of people with my wicked helmet.

I hope they drop them into the final DLC just for a bit of fun.

I don't see the point of getting Lanius' helmet without his armour. It doesn't really go with anything else.

I think it looks alright with that Powder Ganger armor. Don't know the name, but it's shirtless, with a bandoleer across the chest.

Say you become idolized by the legion. Legate my give you the sword before the final quest.

I to wish for a silencer on my assault rifle.

And an automatic mod for my sevice rifle. This gun needs an overhaul.

Haven't finished the game yet but it would be nice to keep on playing. Like in Fallout 3... Finish all side quests and do other stuff.

We are talking about the possibility for a DLC that presents to us items that are only accessible in the endgame (e.g. Blade of the East), not extending it. :D

Obsidian, not Bethesda.

Both. One has a very very small role though. As for my comment on this....well I'll pass. I'd rather wait and see. It doesn't affect me one way or the other.

Its already been said by the Devs there will not be one. It will mess up the game and there are way to many endings to account for in a BS style DLC for New Vegas. IE, way to many variables.

When he said that it was a very long time ago because I remember Bethesda saying the same thing until a lot of their customers wanted to be able to continue, and so they made a DLC like that. I can see Obsidian doing the same thing but not as just a small dlc but a full blown expansion which would cover all endings with multiple different New Vegas's depending on your choice.

I love collecting one of everything, but since I *can't* have Lanius' stuff, I just deal with it. It's not an option. It's just that simple.

I don't think we'll get DLC that will let us have those items. And I say to that: whatever.

Back when I did play games on the PC, I had Civ III. You know what I loved about that game? No console. And therefore no cheats. I kind of wish they'd do that with Fallout games. Or really every game on the PC.

Nice idea, but not everyone uses the console for cheating. Modders use it for testing, and the dcl command is really handy if you get stuck someplace.
