[IDEA] Visiting Arizona

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:24 pm

I was quite disappointed when I realized that the entire area east of the Colorado is actually off-limits save for the Deathclaw area and the tiny sliver leading to the Legate's Camp. I was looking forward to prancing around Ceasar's Land, visiting all the little nooks and crannies and enjoying the stark contrast compared to the NCR-controlled Mojave Wasteland.

So I propose the idea of creating this area, opening it up to travel, and integrating the Hill Fort and Legate's Camp into it (they are actually already part of the Mojave Wasteland worldspace so there's no need to merge worldspaces, just create landscapes and content for the surrounding areas and giving the player access to it).

As for content, fortunately that area of Arizona is very sparsely populated with only a small village and various homestead properties that would end up in the southeastern-most corner, reachable by the 93 which runs from Hoover Dam to the SE. Dolan Springs (the small village) would provide a good chance to create a legitimate "Legion village", as the Fort and Legate's Camp are really just military encampments. Add to that some Legion checkpoints along the highway and various small camps dotted about, particularly across from Cottonwood Cove, and some various mines and other simple locations (there's an interesting junkyard-looking place along the 93).

As this new territory would be integrated into the Mojave worldspace getting there would be as simple as swimming across the Colorady river, or crossing the Hoover Dam. Thankfully this fact makes it easier to actually do as there's no need to create new worldspaces. However as a project it's still quite ambitious, so...

While I'm sure I could do this myself if I put in the time and effort, I have a bad habit of never finishing what I've started. I'd likely put a few days into it and then lose interest. So I'd prefer it if someone else did it. :) It would also make it more exciting to play as I won't have been the one creating it all (and thus know every secret).

But this post is just to put the idea out there and judge the reception it gets. Maybe someone else already had the idea, who knows.

That area's been set aside for DLC.
