Ebony Ore Mines

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 4:10 am

Anyone have a good place to farm some Ebony? I feel like upgrading from my Orcish.

I'm lvl 25 atm. You think the upgrade is too early? I don't want to be "too" op.

Gloombound mine, southeast of Windhelm gave me enough ore to forge and improve a complete ebony set with a shield and sword. You just need to do a quest for the orcs to gain access to it.

google is your friend... typing into google 'skyrim ebony ore' brought immediate results. In any case, enough ore to mine and upgrade a full suit of ebony armor with extra left over can be found in gloombound mine, southeast of windhelm. If you want to get in there with the blessing of the orcs, a fetching sidequest is required. But you can enter regardless. The quest glitched for me... the guy I gave the item too told me to get out, I was trespassing.. even after I gave him the item.

On the very highest tip of the throat of the world. No need to bring a pick axe, there's one lying there.
Also, you'll be on the highest part of the entirer game. :D (While still standing on something solid, ofcourse)

Gloombound mine, southeast of Windhelm gave me enough ore to forge and improve a complete ebony set with a shield and sword. You just need to do a quest for the orcs to gain access to it.

Just accepting the quest allows you to enter the mine and that might not be needed. Even though the orcs say that you're not welcome every time you bump against them, they'll never attack you. Until you think it's a swell idea to run around a mine with a torch. Accidental explosions do count as an assault and a mine filled with angry orcs.

Just walk around the Orc Camp and into the mine. Don't need to do the quest or anything. They'll say you don't belong there while you're mining but none of them go hostile. Throat of the world is a good location as well for it.

Gloombound Mine is really the place to go. Or you can check the vendors if you are high level enough.

Although a tiny mine, there is a decent amount of Ebony Ore to be had at Shor's Stone (Redbelly Mine).

Do you have to advance in the Main quest to get access to the Throat of the World source? Is it a mine or just some ore laying around?

I was gonna suggest Redbelly Mine. But the official game guide quotes it to only be an Iron ore mine (even though when I went in, it was packed with Ebony - no complaints). Perhaps some of the ore-outcome could depend on your level?

i.e Entering a mine at a lower level will yield lower level ores, whereas entering one at a higher level will yield more fanciful ores?
I'm pretty sure the guide also states that there's a rough level boundary where you ought to be wearing or acquiring certain armors and weapons. Will edit when I find it.
