What is better late game; heavy armor or light armor?

Which one is the best and why? Don't say either one I like most, because I don't have the game yet (sadly).

Easy answer, is the one you said not to say. You will reach max cap with either in the end.

However, assuming you level oddly like I do, you will want to go heavy. It starts off with higher armor. My way of leveling tends to focus on support skills first, so combat quickly becomes dangerous. Pretty annoying that a skill like pickpocket scales the rest the world like if you leveled a combat skill /mutters

100 posts and you don't have the game yet? Oh my.

Well heavy armor is stronger but weighs a lot more and makes more noise, so it depends on the character, whether you're a warrior, thief or mage type. Mages shouldn't wear any armor, they get better bonuses from enchanted clothes.

I know they both reach the cap easily but I am asking about the perks. Anyway the reason I don't have the game yet is because my xbox (the original white xbox) decided to die on me. Xbox got the RROD after the first year I had it (May, 2006) and my dad fixed it. Then sometime this year in early October my xbox finally stopped working. So yeah can't wait to get Skyrim and Battlefield 3 :)

Yes but 100 posts? :o What do you write about?
Perks are made to fit the character types I mentioned so in the end it all depends on your game style... No such thing as "better" armor.

Both perk trees are kind of useless imo. The best bit is on the bottom of the tree, which just adds x % to the armor. The top level abilities all suffer from the problem. They either require a matching set of armor (like all dwarven or glass) or require that you are wearing ALL armor of that class (like heavy or light). Like if you go heavy, you will find very unique and cool looking masks. Or if you go light, you might really hate every set of gloves you find.(Really not found a single set I like)

However, If you do mix and match you lose those higher level perk benefits.

I personally have tried both and I find the perks on the light armor side more appealing. Stamina regen is great. Avoiding 10% of melee attacks is ... well ... not terrible. Most of the heavy armor perks (like reduced falling damage or bonus unarmed damage) are kind of silly. Sure you get more armor early but since both hit the cap late and you have limited perks to spend ... I'd go with light armor. I'd also go with duel wielding. It's just by far the most effective.

Oh I am asking as a warrior. Melée only and possibly a shield (just because I love em')

Personally I went with light armour. The end game Dragon Scale looks way more awesome than the Bonemail. That is, if you take the smithing route, which I haven't. I'm fond of Elven Armour myself and will likely stick with it for most of the game.

Otherwise honestly armour takes ageessssss to level up effectively. I'm a Nightblade so I'm in Light Armour with a spell in my off hand rather than shield. However even with this I'm finding I don't get hit a whole ton to even level the skill. I'm at level 24 now and I think light armour is barely past 30.

I am playing on Master though, so combat is extremely deadly however I'm not sure if that is a direct result of my lack luster armour skill.... Either way, paying a trainer seems to be the only effective way to level armour though I've yet to find a light armour specialist.

I think the heavy armors look better. Although elven and glass dont look bad i just really like dwarven, ebony, steel plate, and daedric a ton.

I am having the same problem, at least trainers for light armor are easy to find, Otherwise I would never even qualify for the perks.
