Where is Bethesda?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:19 am

What's the place to go for up-to-date/currant word from Bethesda regarding the progress of fixing this game? I got the 1.01 patch, and I'm sure that it fixes 200 things, it just doesn't seem to have fixed anything pertaining to my playthrough. I still can't finish the quest where I need to bug the Lucky 38 and then report to Emily in the Strip (Emily is a no-show and the quest-marker points me to an unoccupied point), the game still froze after 10 minutes of play after installing the patch, and worst of all, I STILL can't enter the Strip without putting on the Old Cowboy Hat or it freezes!

I was optimistic about Bethesda's patch, and was hoping for a playable game after it installed, but this hasn't been the case. My worst fear is that they think they're done now that this patch (totally useless from my experience) has been released. So where's the best place for me to go to keep track of Bethesda's progress regarding the next patch?

The first patch only fixed scripting issues with the game, obviously now that is out of the way they are probably more focused now on fixing the playability aspect of the game, by remedying issues such as freezing and low/slow performance. Big patches (and the next one will most likely be big) take time, you wouldn't want them to rush it and be left with a patch that does nothing towards solving your particular problems with how the game plays?

I don't want them to rush anything, but some news about it instead of being left in the dark would be nice..

I agree completely with these two replies. I'm willing to wait even as long as a few months for them to get it right, because there's a phenomenal game underneath all these problems. In fact, I would have preferred a three-month delay to what we've gotten.

But at the same time, since Bethesda decided to release this unfinished game and accepted our money at full price, I feel that they owe us frequent communication regarding their progress in fixing these bugs. I don't even know at this point if they are working on another patch! I'm willing to wait for them, but they should reassure us that they're not just taking our money and running.

My thoughts exactly. Just an occasional post would ease my mind immensely.

Might be here a lot sooner than a couple of months, but we would never know.

They took the money and ran with Fallout 3 GotY... New Vegas is like a parting shot from the saddle, aimed at the groin.

Too bad patch 1.01 fixed like 1% of what's wrong with this game. Where's patch 1.02 through 2.0? I'M WAITING! Thanks for letting me get 16 days and 50% trophies deep to C-block me with Gamebryo's r@tardation... >X(

If anything it sure seems as though update 1.01 made my problems much worse. Had freezing before, just not every minute.

Click on the link and contact them, start a complaint ticket. It's the only way I know to reach them because they sure don't read these forums.

I just ran into a hilarious new glitch. Not really a game breaker, just a minor nuisance. So I'm working for the NCR after 33 hours of play, right? Well, they want me to investigate the Omertas (I forget exactly which mission it is). So I go from the NCR Embassy in The Strip to Gomorrah (wearing my trusty Old Cowboy Hat of course), and when I go through the last gate to the area where Gomorrah is, my game freezes.

"Ah, you little scoundrel, you!" I whimsically think as I reset my PS3, softly chuckling to myself. I reload the autosave just outside Gomorrah, and to my surprise, the game freezes again within 3 seconds! I love surprises, and I'm eager to see what will happen if I do the same thing over again. So I reset my system, ready for anything.

Well, after experimenting with four resets and four almost immediate freezes, I figured out the problem - ready for it? - my game will now freeze immediately if I LOOK at Gomorrah. LOL!

The thrill of correctly diagnosing the problem was almost as enjoyable as beating a game after 30+ hours of play! In fact, it almost made me forget that I've paid $60 for the privilege of doing over $300 worth of quality assurance testing* on an unfinished product! LOL!

Your writing delights me in these hard New Vegasless times in which we're living.

I believe the quote you're looking for is "Fool me once, shame on... shame on you... Ya fool me you can't get fooled again."

while these bugs are annoying and vast, the wait will be worth it i am very annoyed at the moment for not being able to continue my game any further i was really getting into the story jsut started getting to the good parts, and now its crash after crash after crash and my patience is wearing thin

dear bethesda,
i know there is a huge demand for games to be released on schedule and fans are very unforgiving for late and/or delayed releases
but please keep in mind a few more weeks of bug testing is always better than a few months of waiting for patches that may or may not fix our individual bugs and glitches

with my current reserve of brink waiting for release im almost scared to pick it up when its released
