Silly Modified Marriage Shenanigans.

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 1:11 am

Warning, this thread contains images and spoilers! But it is pretty funny.

So, let's preface this by noting that I learned that one could marry many NPCs in the game by clicking on them and using these commands in the console:

addfac 19809 1
setrelationshiprank player 4

I wanted to grab a Khajiit for myself. Kind of fancy Kharjo and Dro'marash but, alas, there seems to be something mechanically lacking there that stops one from doing that with Khajiit. It's probably that the lines haven't been voiced. Bad Bethesda, bad! >8[ So I went with the next best: Werewolves!

Problem is, the Companions are Nordly most of the time, so to speak, and all of the time once the Companions quest chain is completed (boo!), but I had an idea. There was one werewolf...

Yes, Sinding.

BEHOLD THE RESULTS!

Yes, yes, I know, evil criminal and all that. But pfft, Hircine made him do it. Anyway, he's mine now. And he's hanging out in my house. No one reacted to him at the wedding, of course, since he's 'technically a Nord,' and no one reacts to him in Whiterun, either. So he's happily living his life in Breezehome, the first communally accepted werewolf in Skyrim.

Roleplay, you say? How'd I manage to pull this off from my character's perspective? Pff... I don't know. I'll just put it down to mass mind-control and be done with it. There's probably a spell for that. Just like there's a spell for everything in that world. Like there's apparently an app for everything in ours.

As you can probably surmise, this amuses me far, far, far too much.

Only difference is instead of losing half your possessions in the divorce, you'll lose half your face.

That's a risk I'm willing to take! This is going to make me rich, after all. Rich, I tell you!

Really, who's going to haggle with a werewolf shopkeeper?

Another thought: Are the guards now going to tell me to muzzle my partner due to all the inevitable howling?

It's even funnier because Sinding likes greeting me with...

"Never thought I'd see you again."

Well, gee... thanks.

Also, a thought I'm mildly dreading: I have a feeling that this is going to become an "I HAVE A WEREWOLF MANWIFE!" meme.

Haa, this was a great thread, thanks everyone.

Seems these images are making their way around the Internet, I've seen them retweeted a bit, so it'll be funny to see where this goes? I wonder if anyone else will try to pull off some sort of crazy, impossible marriage?

And thanks for a funny thread. You guys took this in much better humour than the squares over at Rock, Paper, Shotgun.

It's a shame that you can't do this with anyone who doesn't have the voice lines, or I'd have tried it with dragons, too!

Still, I totally lucked out with Sinding, and I have probably the most unique wife I could have in Skyrim right now. Woo! The only sad part is that I can't drag him around Skyrim with me, I haven't quite figured out how to do that and it might not be possible without the CK (boooo). It'd be a handy thing if I do eventually manage to pull it off, though. Imagine that, a follower who wouldn't be affected by the werewolf fear power!

Of course, there's the "I'm dragging a werewolf around Skyrim and none of the guards are reacting to this at all." angle, which I'd enjoy, because I'm easily amused.

Oh, Sinding and my character are both guys. I can't well carry off the 'werewolf manwife' pun if one of us wasn't, now could I? >_>

Though I'd say that though I probably wear the pants in that relationship, Sinding probably prefers being on top, and who would argue?! I like keeping my head attached to my shoulders, so not me.

Ya, there is some amusemant to be had from Sinding's lines.

"Never thought I'd see you again..."
"B-but... I come back here every day to do some smelting and blacksmithing! Do you really have such a low opinion of my life expectancy?!"

The roaring sound Sinding makes after having been gone from your house for a while is pretty great, too. It's scared the crap out of me a few times, until I remembered why I was hearing it. >_>

You can make any NPC, including your wife/husband, a follower by using the console.
The only other way to get your wife/husband to follow you is by marrying an actual follower, IIRC.

After doing this, I'm surprised it hadn't occurred to you that I might have tried that. >_>

I had tried that.

Unfortunately, even with all the correct variables set, with a relationship rank of 4, with him in the follower faction, he couldn't do it. Why? Possibly down to missing lines from that voice actor. But then, why that particular voice has marriage lines for it I'll never know, since I believe that Sinding's voice is actually unique? I don't recall ever hearing another Nord like that. So it was serendipity that I even discovered that.

But yes, I did give that a go and it's a no go, sadly. :C
