NPC Reset?

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 10:12 am

I asked earlier about resurrecting NPCs (like when dragons attack a town) and got some help there. I tried the resurrect 1 cmd yesterday and the script that ran was definitely different than just using resurrect.

But is there any NPC reset cmd like there was in Morrowind? There's just one NPC in a town that I resurrected when I shold have resurrect 1'd him. I'm finding several missing commands to be pretty lazy of the devs.

In addition to this question, are there any mods that expand the cmd list? I'd like to see things like "add perk" or skill level advancement commands that just increase the level by the number of levels you put in without the game treating it like a buff and instead of the one that varies by experience amount where some require numbers in the thousands to level once while others require hundreds.

Sloppy work, Bethesda.

Any responses? (only one bump for this question)

Try recycleactor. not sure what it does, but it might reset them. Might be that this plus resurrect is required?
You have to target them of course, with prid or just clicking.

edit:
to quote uesp: Can be used to reset an NPCs reference/revive dead NPCs. If you've already looted a corpse, they may come back headless (especially Nords). Their inventory isn't reset, except for their weapon. Enemies will prioritize other NPCs of opposing factions (like Stormcloak vs Imperial), and ignore the player until the opposing NPCs are dead. The optional Destination Reference is untested, probably refers to coordinates or a cell id. When used on containers, it acts like resetinventory.

Wait, so you could go to a master chest and loot it then run recycleactor on it an just keep looting? Interesting. Thanks.

Has anyone tested this command on people? Are any subsequent numbers required or can you just click on the actor and and run the command on the actor you have clicked/targeted? Methinks this command has a lot of potential.

resetinventory would also work on chests and NPCs and other containers, but wouldn't revive the NPC or reset their AI/move them back to where they should be, which recycleactor does.
Mess around with it if you want to find out how it works. The link is good, but there might be other sources of information, too.

I wonder how this works on AI that have been improperly resurrected. Interesting.

Again, thanks.
