FPS limiter to fix mouse sensitivity issue - but breaks Vsyn

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 8:06 pm

Hi all,

I'm using the wonderful fix "Direct3D antilag v1.01" by Keijo Ruotsalainen - this is a wonderful FPS limiter but it's breaking my Vsync. I am forcing Vsync through the amd control panel but that's not working. For a number of reasons I don't want to use Boris's enbseries. Any ideas how to keep vsync working while limiting frames? I know that vsync already limits frames to 60 FPS, but an actual frame limiter fixes the mouse sensitivity issues (micro stutters in dungeons)

Download DXTory - a video capturing tool. You can limit the FPS ('advanced' tab) without actually capturing. And it doesn't affect the Vsync like 'antilag' does.

LFyfe, thanks for the respond, I've tried that program - I checked the box and set it to 40 FPS, but my FPS goes up to 60 FPS. For some reason, it just doesn't work on my computer.

Try making sure you're not using the "Direct3D antilag v1.01" by Keijo Ruotsalainen when using Dxtory.

My game post patches has no more sensitivity problems.

You may be checking the wrong box, look under the 'advanced' tab to the right, there is an option called 'Limit FPS'

Also make sure DXTory is using the TESV exe profile and try it again, it reverts settings sometimes without you knowing it

I checked limit video FPS box. I set it to 40. I start Skyrim and FPS goes above 40. Did I miss a step?

Odd, DXTory works really well for me. Do you have the latest version? I tried an earlier version at first and it didn't work.

ITS WORKING! - I'm not sure why this time it is, but it is. No microstutters and vsync is still working. I love you. Bro love.

Nice! No worries man, I bet it was just reverting to a default setting. Hopefully now the TESV profile is saved and willl stay that way.

PS. whenever you make changes to the DXTory settings, it will only save them if you shut the program down properly. The settings will revert back if you restart your PC while DXTory is still runnung.

ALSO... set the FPS to 58 at the highest (setting it to 60 wont fix the stutter properly)

One more thing, close down Dxtory when you're not using it because on my system it does not let my graphics card enter its low power state!

Edit: Must have been something on my end because Dxtory doesn't mess with my GPU's power states anymore :|
