Extract all the files inside Data folder to SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data directory
and from your Skyrim launcher, select Dragon Overhaul.esp.

2. About this mod

************************************************************

This mod makes dragons much tougher and stronger than before. This mod is for people that think that vanilla dragons are a bit weak, and are looking for more challenge.

List of changes:

- All dragons now have 30% resist to damage, 15% resist to shock and 50% resist to poison

- Now dragons will use their Unrelenting Force shout that they already had in their spells list, but somehow they never used it.

- Some dragons now have more shouts:
*Frost dragon has weak version of Ice Form
*Elder and Ancient dragons have Dismaying shout and Ancients also have Disarm shout.

- Dragons now have perks that fit their type. eg dragons that use fire breaths have Augmented Flames lvl.1 and Intense Flames perks.

- First class dragon is a little bit stronger now (not much though).

- Named dragons now have unique appeareance. They also have new shouts and abilities. But the first dragon you fight (The one in the Whiterun's quest) has no changes at all, because i think that is just a tutorial dragon.

- Dragons now have more variety in their loot. Human/animal remains, clothing and jewerly. Nothing major.

- AI of the dragons has been changed. Now they will more likely stay in the air attacking you and their enemies. They still have a small chance (24%) to land on the ground.

- Dragons level up with the player now.

- Alduin himself is now MUCH STRONGER than before. Here are changes:

*More powerfull leveled shouts. No new shouts
*Melee damage is also leveled
*Alduin's 50% resist to all damage sources has been fixed
*Now he doesn't have any weakness against frost attacks
*During the Dragonslayer quest, he has low health regeneration ability

************************************************************

3.Playing the plug-in

************************************************************

Just check the mod in your Skyrim launcher and Dragons are alot harder than before.

************************************************************

4. Incompatibilities

************************************************************

All the other mods that edit same things as listed above.

************************************************************

5. SaveGames

************************************************************

It shouldn't mess up your savegames, but as always, backup your original savegames.

************************************************************

6. Bugs

************************************************************

There is a bug with the ones that have downloaded this on steam. You may notice that the named dragons are all purple. The reason the dragons are purple is because skyrim isn't registering bsa files properly or something like that.
If you want to fix this, download this mod in Skyrim Nexus or in Planet Elder Scrolls.

************************************************************

7. Other info

************************************************************

The changes made by your mod sound really good, I'll be using it when I install Skyrim again, I especially like the hardcoe Alduin, I wonder if you could scale his physical size too, not a huge amount, just enough to make him noticeably bigger than other dragons

*edit*

The named dragons could also get some extra buffing to make them feel more like boss encounters.

Well, i was thinking to make him more bigger. Maybe in the next version.

This is what i'm going to do in next version. I'm also planning to make all named dragons to have unique appearance.

That's great, it goes without saying that dragons needed more variety :)

I'm going to remove disarm shouts from Elders and Ancients (perhaps from Alduin too), because alot of people don't like it.

DD will likely be incompatible with this mod. DD doubles all vanilla dragons health, while this mod modifies them to have new abilities etc...

Edit:

Maybe i should add Dismay shout to Elders. Ancients already have Marked for death, so elders would also have two other shouts.

What do you say?

What are the main differences with the other dragon buffing mod? Deadly dragons?

I believe dragons are able to use Dismay too, this would be handy I think for a different reason - NPCs would get out of the way when the dragon uses it on them but it wouldn't affect the player. It would aid in the image of dragons being way too powerful for most NPCs to consider fighting.

Just for my curiosity, what do you people say about these changes i've made:

- Dragon scales & dragon bones weight 1.5 instead of 15
- Dragons now have a smaller chance to land on the ground. They can sill be dragonrended though
- Named dragons now have new stats and abilities
- Dragons now have more more loot. Armor, weapons, clothes etc... (presumably from the victims they have eaten). Not hight leveled stuff though.

Edit:

- Dragons now have more variety in their loot. Clothes, jewels, other animal parts etc...

sounds nice
and id alrdy download it
but why DISARM? :) sadly this mod is not for me because i hate how disarm works at the moment
if it wouldnt remove the disarmed item from favorites i think it would be just fine
i havent tested this mod, but i assume nothing has changed to the remove from favorites thingy from vanilla skyrim?

I like most of those - not sure about the weight thing, it never bothered me before and I haven't yet played a smith so they weren't much use to me.

I really like your ideas. They seem more subtle than the other dragon difficulty mods, which just buff stats.

Something you might want to consider is adding more ways to force a dragon to crash to the ground like critical strikes, power attacks or a "sweet spot" and then have them stay stunned for a bit. This would be more fair to lower-level warrior types, and because it's such a shame that the developers put so much effort into a nice crashing animation, which doesn't seem to happen often enough. I'm not sure which options might be the most balanced however.

I'm not sure about that change. It sounds like it will screw over characters that are primarily melee who haven't gotten the dragonrend yet.

To be honest, not much. I strongly rely on dragons landing, I don't see why this should be changed at all. Same goes for scales and bone weight. What was your idea behind that? I think they're raw untreated dragon parts, they're supposed to be heavy.
More variety in loot however is a good idea :)

Resistances, new shouts, loot - All that sounds pretty cool. :twirl:
But my questions still stand: Why are Dragon parts now lighter? And I honestly can't imagine besting a dragon that barely lands since I'm shelled in heavy armor and use a mod that make NPCs run out of arrows - Even cities and villages will probably fight their last stand.

Or could you probably tell us where to revert those two points back to Vanilla settings?

Mod updated again.

V 1.1 doesn't change these anymore.

Edit: Mod updated from 1.1 to 1.2

I'm curious...why all vanilla dragons had Unrelenting Shout in their shout database but were unable to use it?

Sounds really great!
Was such a shame that dragons were so weak...

I really like the idea that dragons don't land so much, after all they have an advantage over us and they should try to keep it, but like said before whe should be able to make them land with various tricks like shooting them in the wings, or going in a place where they cannot reach us by air like a forest.

I don't know. I just edited it to have the same effects as Unrelenting Force lvl.3 and they started to use it.

Anyways, mod updated for the last time. See the first post for more info.
