In the quest you are required to get a number of items. one of which is a briar heart from a forsworn. i already had one in my inventory when i started the quest and didn't start out with credit. when i went to the spot on the map and looted EVERYTHING from the guy with the marker on his head, including a briar heart, i still received no credit. the marker was still over his corpse, but nothing in the inventory. and i can remove the briar heart from my inventory, so i know it is the correct item.
Any help would be great, as i didn't save for quite some time before hand XD

Are you on the PC? And if so, are you willing to use the console to advance the quest? This one got bugged for me to, right at the briar heart.

im on a ps3 so no console commands for me saddly.

Sorry, maybe someone knows how to get this to work otherwise. It bugged for me too and the console was the only way I could get it to advance.

have you tried removing all the hearts from your inventory? maybe one on the floor and put one back into the corpse, then pick one up and see if it registers. Maybe it's just not registering cause you already had one there.

Who gives this quest?

I just returned the "cracked phial" to a guy in Windhelm but I didn't get any options to get it fixed. Do I have to go back to him?

A courier brought me a latter with the quest actually. and like i said when i tried to drop the heart back on the guy it wouldn't let me remove it from my inventory because it was a quest item.
