Does anybody have any idea why my computer only gives me 15-35 fps, at the samme settings as my friend, when he is getting 30-45 without any sudden fps drops.

Settings:
Resolution: 1366x768
Antialising and Anistopic Filtering: Off
Texture Quality: High
Radial Blur Quality: Medium
Shadow Detail: Medium
Decal Quantity: Medium
FXAA is off.
On the Water settings there is nothing turned on.
View Distance:
Object Fade: 7
Actor Fade: 7
Light Fade: 15
Item Fade: 5
Grass Fade: 5
Specularity Fade: 10
Distant Object Detail: Medium and Object Detail Fade is turned off.

PS: We have the same specs. I also defraged the game to give me 5 more fps

My specs:
Intel Core i5 460m (constantly running at 2,6-2,8 ghz)
Amd Mobility Raedon HD 5650 (1gb of vram)
4gb ram
Windows 7 Home Premium

Please help me out.

HI,

Even tho you say you and your Friend have the same specs...you do not have the same computer....Just venturing a guess here put sure you have things installed that your friend does not .and Visa versa..

Try a Clean boot. run the game ...if you have better FPS then something you have installed is the culprit. Could be anything..Antivirus, Printer in task bar, instant messager any number of things.

Easy test, as a "clean boot" removes many of the differences between computers. Google ...clean boot

For those of us who use the IP Board theme, which has a white background, rather than the impossible-to-read default theme, can you please not use white font? I thought your message was blank at first. :meh:

Are you absolutely, 100% sure you and your friend have the same specs? You both have laptops, and therefore Mobility cards? If he has a desktop, that would certainly explain the difference.

Also make sure you're running the exact same settings, including resolution.

Beyond that, I'd second what camaro suggested. You may have more resource intensive tasks running in the background than he does. Maybe you have a bunch of unnecessary programs running at start-up, or a resource hogging antivirus.

this is what stands out to me. if you hard disk data transfere is inferior then you will notice slow downs etc. same spec doesnt really mean same components. i would try doing a boot defrag. i use iobit's smart defrag 2 software to schedule a boot time defrag. this will defrag things which cannot be moved in the windows environement like swapfiles, hybernation files etc. i wouldnt worry about defragging the mft or system files as much.

Like 2 days ago me and my friend reinstalled windows 7 because our laptop were acting crazy, therefore i dont have many programs running in the background.

Tyra, yes he has a laptop, only a diffrent manufacturer, I have an acer and he has a dell. Can a motherboard have anything to do with the game performance?
thats the only thing we dont have in common. My laptops name is Acer timelinex 5780tg, in case you were wondering.

Camaro thnx for the tip, gonna try it out right away.

Joe thnx gonna try it out to, but im not sure if it will work since I recently reinstalled windows.

I kind of find it wierd that the more i play the game the more fps drops and stutering it has, the first 24 hours of gameplay, there were small stutering, when towns were loaded, at 70 hours of gameplay the game started loosing 10-15 fps when entering towns, and occasionaly a random place in the environment.
I have heard about the ps3 lagg, is it any chanse that the bug is on the computer version to? just people have not been noticing it since computers are stronger than consoles.
