I was very unimpressed when I finally finished the quest line and did not receive an amazing weapon with +100000 to every stat.

This is true. Not only will you not recieve somekind of reward, but the greybards and other people wont even recognize you as the coming leader of their land.

Yes, it was a bit of a letdown. No good item. We did get to call a dragon though so I guess they thought that would appease us. LOL

I personally thought it was a good spot to gift a dragon weapon of your choice as a prize seeing as how they didn't give us a dragon weapon. A weapon forged on the Skyforge with one of Alduins teeth or horns would have been uber!!!

Anyone remember when people would beat the main quest of video games just for the sake of beating the game and knowing you saved the world?

Yes but this is TES. The game is only over when you want it to be. I highly doubt even 10% of players complete every quest before finishing the main quest so there is almost always something more to do.

Spawn alduin again via console commands next to the Greybeards.Kill him again.And they will know you for sure.
