Got my new PC yesterday...would rather play Skyrim on my old

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 12:02 pm

Why? Because my old PC was running on XP and, even with a few bugs in the game that were a bit annoying, it didn't get anywhere near this 'mouse lag' im currently experiencing

I'm running everything except shadows on ultra atm and outside it's fine with 0 problems. But when i go into a Dungeon / small zone my mouse acts like it's on 10fps randomly. It's pretty damn annoying and it's something that, at the moment, is making me stop playing due to it. I must admit i haven't played skyrim since the 1.3 patch hit as i was waiting for this rig so i could play it in max-prettyness - but right now even that seems like a wasted time.

Is there a fix that i've missed for it?

59fps limiting with DXtory seems the best fix or ENB skyrim patch for single GPU users

Sounds like one of two things: the bug(s) that are induced by rendering too many frames ahead (a setting within the graphics driver of either NVidia or ATI), or you should attempt to run Skyrim in a Window (which usually fixes micro-stutter). Rendering only 1-2 frames ahead fixes a lot of potential mouse lag, and running in a window fixes indoor micro-stutter and lag from light sources.

flip queue size had no improvements when i tried it a few weeks ago using ATT, was hoping to match the render ahead settings in direct3d antilag v1.01 but get it to work for crossfire, which tool did you use for render ahead?

I use RadeonPro to tweak my card and the flip queue size (render-ahead). It also has the ability to limit FPS for an app, even while in a window. I have mine locked at 60 FPS, run it in a borderless window, and don't have micro-stutter or video/mouse related lag.

I've stopped using any DX9 injectors for the time being, as they tend to impact my performance a bit more than I'd like. The only exception is the SMAA injector, which is a vast improvement over FXAA for no more rendering cost.

SMAA injector? I only heard of FXAA injector , Nexus search brings me up nothing about any SMAA injector.

nevermind I found it..(googled it) It's F-awesome..gotta try it myself..

go to your documents/my games/skyrim/

open skyrimprefs.ini

find

bMouseAcceleration

set the =1 to =0..

try the game now.

additionally i found that i had to set my mouse sensitivity to 0.03 like below..

fMouseHeadingSensitivity=0.0300

I'm gonna go on a limb here:

Do you have a brand mouse (Logitech, etc.) . If so, did you install the driver from the said mouse? Maybe if you install the driver you can tweak the mouse a bit. It doesn't sound like a proper mouse problem though, if it only happens indoors like that. Does it happen in-menus as well? Is your fps capped when the mouse lags?

The shadows in the game seem to be somewhat poorly optimized, running on high doesn't eat up frames like ultra does, so i think the OP is doing it because of that. Also, I'm given to understand they don't look that much better either.

This. I have all settings on ultra, but medium shadows, as they cause sometimes severe fps drops. They're not coded the same as other games, I can have shadow quality maxed in crysis and bfbc2 etc.

Skyrims shadows are a spanner in the works :P

Using a Razer deathadder atm, tried it with drivers install and uninstalled - the only time it happens is inside dungeons / houses etc

can safely say windowmode fixes this, though thats not entirely the perfect fix, but will do for now :) thanks

If you have an nVidia card, turn off vsync in the nvidia control panel, for skyrim, or system-wide. Fixed it for me.

Edit: This basically does what the other tweak with ipresentinterval was supposed to do, but it seems to work more reliably for me.

Download this: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4
Place the exe file in your main skyrim directory.
Launch skyrimlauncher and check windowed mode.
Open up your SkyrimPrefs.ini search for iSize H= and iSize W= and change them to your full screen resolution.
Launch using SBW.exe
Enjoy full screen borderless window.

And let me guess you're running an AMD card on this rig, right?
