The Skyrim Console, how does it work?

Hiya. Noob to this sort of thing, but here's the short of it: I am trying to resurrect someone following a quest, but I don't know how.

The long of it: I disagree with the writing of the Paarthurnax/Blades issue. I feel the Dragonborn ought to be able to browbeat his Blades into submission. As this is not an option, but I would like to continue the Blades quests and not have Paarthurnax dead, I've decided to simply kill Paarthurnax and resurrect him afterwards. As UESP directs it, I'm supposed to hit the console, click paarthurnax, and type resurrect, but nothing appears to be happening. So, that would be: " ` ", followed by " Left-Click ", followed by "resurrect."

I tried the kill command, just to check if maybe just resurrect was screwy on dragons. I consoled, clicked Paarty, and typed kill. Nuthin'. Same order as last time.

Does anyone know how to do this? Or, alternatively, how to use the console to advance the Blades Quest to the point following Paarthurnax's death?

The quest will complete but the check for his death may not be easily undone as it is not actually coupled with the quest.

To complete the quest through the console use

setstage MQPaarthurnax stage

where stage is 100 for completion I think (From UESP wiki)

Resurrecting him might not reverse the death trigger. Try reloading before and use the console command if you want to bypass this quest.

Alright, thank you very much. It went exactly as I'd hoped. Greybeards still happy. Party's alive. Blades are satisfied.

Now I've a new problem. I want to make the end of the Imperial Legion questline more realistic by giving Tullius's bodyguard Heavy Imperial Armor rather than light armor. However, when I tested this on a random Imperial soldier, I couldn't get it to work. The directions say:

hit " ` ", then click the target with the mouse, then type "prid" then type your command. In this case that command was "equipitem 000136d5". But nothing happened. What am I doing wrong here?

I haven't tried that command yet so I really have no idea, just throwing out some ideas. Are you trying "prid equipitem 000136d5" or "prid" then "equipitem 000136d5"? They need to be in the same line I think (once again, never used this command). If that is the case the next thing I would recommend doing would be to type "prid equipitem 000136d5 1". The 1 represents how many of the time (if you wanted to give yourself gold it would be "player.additem 000000F 1000" for 1,000 gold). If that still doesn't work you might (and I kinda doubt this) need to put in the reference ID (the number that shows up when you click someone). It would be like "prid ReferenceID#.equipitem 000136d5" (maybe add the 1 to the end as well). If none of those work then I'm not sure really.
