A problem in activating the game

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 1:58 pm

Hello guys,

I have played Skyrim a few times in the last month. The last one was about two weeks ago.
Today after double-clicking on Skyrim's icon a new window was opened, as usual. I pressed on the Play button and instead of activating the game it closed and opened the same window again. I don't know what to do. I tried restarting my computer and using the game disc in order to play, but they didn't help.

Is that problem familiar to you and what should I do?

I thank you in advance.

There have been a few patches to Skyrim in the last weeks.
One of those patches made it so that you can't play Skyrim anymore without running Steam.
If you are trying to start Skyrim by directly clicking on the TESV.exe or the SkyrimLauncher.exe, that is not supposed to work anymore.
So start Steam, and then start Skyrim from Steam.

(Although tbh, I don't understand how you'd get the patches if you really never used Steam before).

Let us know how it worked out. Also if you got it working, as that knowledge can help others.

Verify steam cache - see the stickies for info on how to do this.
