Companioin lost in Labyrinth

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 8:13 pm

Searched the forums, and didn't find this anywhere. My companion, Lydia, is alive and stuck just inside the entrance to the Labyrinth. I've tried releasing her, re-hiring her, waiting (for days), but she's still stuck in the corner when I reenter this dungeon. I even killed her and resurrected her outside with a console command, but she just reappears inside the dungeon. The Jarl of Whiterun sent me her belongings (250 gold) and his condolences, though she was alive again. Even after I coax her right up to the door and leave, she won't come out with me. Has anyone run into this problem and found a solution?

Try telling her "wait here" and then go out and wait for 48 hours yourself, you might get tge "Your follower gets tired of waiting and left"

I had a similar situation with followers getting stuck outside outside the entrance of Northwind mine. Both from that experience and long experience using companions in Oblivion, if you want to keep her, your best solution is to rollback to the save prior to your companion getting bugged and replay from that point. if you have to eat playtime in the process, that's just how it is. Once followers get dialog or movement bugged for whatever reason, you can rarely if ever console command your way out of it. You have to restart prior to the bug point and avoid what caused it.

The "wait here" and hope for the reset might work too, but I haven't had the patience to need or try it yet.

Thanks for your replies, folks. I'll try waiting. She's not important enough to lose the amount of play I've built up, really. Anyway, happy holidays!

Don't get your hopes up...... I left Lydia in Shalidor's Laybrinth 6 months ago and she still hasn't returned. AFAIK it's a pathing problem. When you enter the area, your companion somehow finds a another way in but cannot leave through the main entrance. You can test this by standing near the main entrance/exit and spamming the "wait here" command. It appears that there's some kind of invisible 'barrier' there that they can't path across. I tried dismissing her and also tried telling her to wait. A few days later i got the "your companion has grown tired of waiting" message, however when i returned 2-3 weeks after seeing that message she was still there. Antways that was more than 6 months ago gametime wise. I've been using Mjoll from Riften since then and IMHO she's a much better follower anyways! I sure hope Lydia does return soon though as Breezehome is a mess and i can't be bothered cleaning it up myself!

Warning: You must have your companion wait outside the main entrance to the Maze complex, in Laybrinthian where the frost trolls hang out. Once you enter through the main entrance, it's too late!

Use fus-ro-dah! I managed to push my companions in the right direction so they could follow me after that.

This. Sometimes you can blast a stuck companion loose with it.
