I've reloaded and traveled to Hoover Dam by foot 5 times now and every time I get close the game freezes. I'm nearly 20 hours in and feel that I'm probably screwed. If anyone knows some sort of workaround for this problem I'm open to suggestions (or a patch :sadvaultboy: Obsidian/Bethesda.) I've experienced the screwed up terminal hacking as well but loaded a previous save and it seems to be ok. I've also had the game randomly freeze 3 other times at various areas which is understandable from such a huge game. If I have to start over that is when the issues become a problem for your company keeping me as a customer.
I loved Fallout 3 and while it was a bit buggy until after a few updates New Vegas seems to be pretty much broken for me. Am I approaching Hoover Dam in a way that is not conducive to being able to continue playing the game I paid $60 for? Probably not. I'm very upset right now and created this account to voice my displeasure so if anyone at Obsidian/Bethesda thinks that this is a small amount of gamers upset it is not. I don't usually post on forums and I've taken the time to set up an account so know I'll take the time to not buy your next game until I'm 100% convinced it is playable (your next game's first week sales deserve to suffer) and that may change depending upon the timeliness and quality of your forthcoming patches.
Oblivion is my favorite game and Fallout 3 is close behind. I bought nearly all of the DLC for both the day they were released. Yet I have the opinion now that relying on previous quality of games as a mark of where your new releases should be come release date is not a smart choice. I hope to have a nice game update message that magically fixes my Hoover Dam problem in the next couple of days but I'm skeptical.
On another note consider that you may actually be promoting the pirating of your software as well. Could a gamer be blamed for downloading a working PC version of an Xbox 360 game they paid $60 for and can't continue on in? Granted the PC version is probably buggy and broken as well but at least there's hope that your community will fix the issues your QA department didn't.
EDIT: Please move to New Vegas forums (told you I was new to this.)
