I am one quest away from the great nightingale armor. But before I acquire it, I want to know if I really should get it at my current level. I'm level 9(have only done the thief's guild quests which i suppose explains). I'e heard that you should be at least 30 because it will be better if you've got a high level. Also, since im still at the beginning(as i said previously, i only did the thief quests) as soon as I had escaped from Helgen with Rolof, i went to join the thieves. Will i find better armor pieces later on(heard it's the best for sneaky people)?

I belive you have the ability to upgrade it with Void Salt later on. not 100% sure tho as ive never done it myself.

Upgrading it via smithing doesn't change the lower level enchants that are on the equipment. It only changes the armor value.

Don't worry about the level of the gear, just do the quests and enjoy the content. Go back and do the quests at a higher level on a different character if you want the upgraded set.

I'm about to finish the Thieves Guild line myself.

My next stop is the Dark Brotherhood. I'm hoping there's a decent quest line there too.

So far, the thieve's guild stuff is fantastic. I love actually being a Thief and not just mindlessly killing everything.

I've seen things that say the weapons stop scaling at 41. Where's the evidence behind this?

I've gone through the questline for the TG three times, the level scaling on the website does not match up, weapons DO stop scaling at level 41

Yeah, I'd like to know where they got their level numbers from. A lot of those levels don't match what I've found from personal experience.

Go get your armor and upgrade it when you level.

Upgrading it only upgrades the armor rating. It doesn't improve the enchantments. The enchantments will always stay at the level at which you acquired the item.

The boots appear to be confused. The muffle effect is listed as 0.25, 0.5, 35. No matter how I read that, it confuses me. Can anyone check their gear stats for the various levels, so we can clear this up?
