Long/short: She's got nice hardware and we're both running "recommended" setups on the game as far as tweaks, stability, drivers, etc. LAA, nothing past some texture mods, defragged...we've done everything right.

For the most part she's in good shape but every so often we're seeing CTDs and she's convinced that maybe the problem only exists on her most recent saves because she loaded up an older save and played for over an hour with nothing but if she loads up two of her most recent saves she's seeing CTDs inside of a half an hour. 15-20 minutes.
She never used auto or quick save, either. Those tend to corrupt more easily.
How can I determine a corrupt save vs. else? If it were a corrupt save, what/how does that happen?
Is there any truth to the idea that if you cross or come near the number "1000" on save quantity that it creates additional issues? I've seen that concept float around. She doesn't have 1000 save files on her machine but you all know how that works. Every time you save the number goes up even if you overwrite.
Is there any truth to the size of save folder being any kind of issue? She's got about 300Mb or so worth of save files. Doesn't seem outrageous.
Thanks.

EDIT: She remembered that she was playing and was killed in a dungeon and she let the game reload after the death and kept playing. She saved sometime after that.
Would that mean or confirm the idea that "auto saves" might be more prone to corruption if that's all that happened here?
