When Did you hit the Lag Wall?

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 1:01 pm

Just curious when other players are getting to the point that you can no longer play skyrim due to it turning into a slideshow.

My game started to get choppy at level 50 and has progressed rapidly to unplayable now at level 53. 80K gold on my character.

Wierd thing is if I do a save it is playable and smooth for a min or two before degrading to a slide show again ; \

Guess I will wipe all saves and start again while they work on a fix.

I'm assuming PS3...

I don't have lag because I play on my PC.

150~ hours clocked on PC with no performance issues.

i feel bad for you son, you must have one crappy connection to experience LAG in a single player game ;)

I've got two characters over level 60, something like 170-200 hours on each. No lag at all on Xbox. Very few issues altogether, in fact. Dunno why you're getting it on PC...

PS3, and I started getting lag when I got to around level 20 on my second character. But I just restart the game and it's fine again. Now have +200 hours on my character and just started a new one. So far no bad lag since last patch.

That sounds like a lap top card. If so, are you sure that its not your processor overheating due to insufficient cooling, ive read those cards are decent but can overheat a laptop easily with insufficient cooling.

250 hours on a single character.

Save game size is 20 MB.

Do you install any mods? Namely HD texture mods. Also, as the above poster pointed out, heat is a problem for laptop graphics card. You might want to get cooling pads if you are not using any.

Xbox 360

I'm at level 50 now. 120+ hours. Over the past 5 levels or so I've noticed lag at times, but it tends to only be inside forts/caves and when there's a lot of spells being casted or stuff flying off of tables and whatnot.. so it kinda makes sense.

But, it also seems that since I unlocked the 2nd word in the Ice Form shout - everytime I use it the game lags/skips part of me saying the shout and then when it resumes at the game's normal pace the shout's going through the air. eh.

So just on a whim I figgured I would double my RAM today from 4 Gig to 8 Gig, and its playable again ; ]

Makes scense as the flaw with the code is having to do with all the states the game is keping track of reference every corpse you left loot in or what mobs are dead and which treasure chests still have a potatoe in it you have not looted, or all those barrels with cabbage and carrots that you looked in but didn't take anything.

The game didn't use more than 4 Gb of ram, so, maybe you were running too many processes in the background. Your OS will always use some ram, but you can reduce that number considerably. Anyway, you won't be concerning for this again with your new memory adquisition.
