Does anyone have the Skyrim Strategy guide? Is it any good?

I just ordered the strategy guide on Amazon, and I was wondering if anyone else has taken a look through this guide.

I'm new to TES and I think thr more info the better, because in only 15 hours of pkaytime ive run into stuff I don't fully understand, and with 650 pages, at the very least I have something interesting to thumb through, plus I Google search for things I get stuck on anyway, so I think having a physical book giving me hints would be helpful.

I wouldn't use it for spoilers or as a crutch- just the tricky parts that I am completely lost on, or to get some helpful insight on something I might not understand, particularly alchemy and enchanting.

II have the guide and its helped me a lot. I'm pretty new to this genre of gaming so I thought it was needed avd turned out to be worth it. Helped me get through a few dungeons and also find locations that I haven't discovered yet. The one big disappointment was lack of an alchemy chart for which ingredients make what. That was my main reason for purchasing because i have ton of ingredients but no patience to try everything. Also I didn't get the game to spend endless hours in front of an alchemy table trying to figure out potions. Sometimes it's fun but it becomes like a chore after a while.

Overall for a beginner like me, the guide is very handy and worth the $30 so far. Also, there were some really good threads in here with lots of tips and there's the wiki page too for additional info

If you're new to TES and you're unsure if the strategy guide is worth your money, there's always www.uesp.net (uesp = unofficial elder scrolls page)

Over time it will be a MUCH more robust source of info than the strategy guide, plus its free.

Like the game the book does lack some organization. But its much faster than using a online source and overall not a bad guide. The info for alchemy, enchanting, and smithing is very useful. My one problem with it is the maps are to detailed. So when comparing to the in game map you don't have as many reference points. I have noticed that all the questions people are asking about items and missions are answered in the book. Except when glitches are involved.

I got it for free with the game, and I love it. I use UESP just as much, but it's awesome to have.

All of the guide's 656 highly accurate and detailed pages are 1000% worth the investment. You'll get your money's worth if you elect to play various races, or do the various non main storyline quests.

Absolute must have for Christmas. You won't regret it.

edit: forgot to add that having it helps you avoid breaking major faction quests like the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood. It really svcks when you have to wack someone for the DB, and then find out you need that NPC alive so you can rob them blind!

Didn't get mine free, but I agree here. I use the UESP Skyrim pages a LOT, and I use my Prima guide a LOT, they are both useful in their own ways. I generally never buy guides because 99% of the info is available online for free, which is mostly true of Skyrim as well, but this game is a bit different from most games in that there are several topics that are objective, and I like having different opinions and outlooks on skills/items/quests/factions/etc. Also I use these forums a LOT as well, lol. Too much Skyrim! Its a great problem to have =P

The guide I have has all the alchemy ingredients and all effects listed. It also has a few helpful potion recipes but for alchemy there are better resources on the web. The guide is great if you get stuck on something though, or want to know specific info about locations and people in the game etc.
