A brief history on torches(very brief).

The Almighty Torch

History

Oblivion had and still has endless amounts.

Skyrim has none, well almost none.

I use torches all the time, I love them!
Before now I could not find them ever so I couldn't ever use them until now. For some reason Skyrim lacks in the torch department. It's as if the shipment from Oblivion never made it.

My trick is find a mine cave or dungeon that has torches. Actually find any torch. A good easy spot is in the theives guild. There is a door that goes from the raggod flaggon(spelling) to the cistern of the guild. On the flaggon side of the door there is a torch, grab it from the wall right next to the door then return through the door back the other side then back again and the torch will be there, grab it again. Do this as many times as you would like. It doesn't have to be there, you can do it anywhere there is a torch or torches. Just find a place grab the torches and leave then go back and grab them again.

I know some people can care less for them but I also know some really want them and use them like me all the time. With this trick you can have hundreds or thousands or even millions. Well maybe not that many, not sure if there is a weight limit but grabbing and stocking up on a few is nice this way.

Enjoy!

The only time I find torches useful is for setting trolls on fire. I still have in the inventory the torch you can loot during the intro dungeon. Caves and ruins are too well lit this time.

Does torch fire actually propagate this time around? You mentioned setting trolls on fire, can you actually use them as weapons? Between Night Eye and fairly bright settings I've never even equipped one.

It works well with all creatures vulnerable to fire. I don't know if the block perks have any influence on the amount of the damage done by torches, though.

That's pretty cool, didn't know that was in. You can go find some ghosts and RP Aragorn with sword and torch.

You probably don't realize but torches go out, for me rather quickly. I use one in every dungeon, every cave, or any place that is dark. The reason I use them is for depth. The way my eyes work makes it do everything looks flat to me and with a torch it gives a little depth. If I don't use one I miss loot because I can't see it, it will sort of blend in the background for me. Anyways ya torched do go out, try last about one in game night for me. Also it's just a habit from using them in Oblivion. I did notice that not that many people actually use them. My torch is actually hit keyed. I also use the spell the directs you to the current goal, I haven't really heard of many people using that as well. Lol maybe I am a torch addict. I really really wish we can make them. Now that I think of it I kinda wish we had more options to smith, had a bigger variety to mess with.

Most of you probably know this, but if you give a companion a torch, they will use it even outdoors at night. It kinda makes you feel important when a hireling follows you around lighting your way.

Kill legion and penitus oculatus agents. They almost always have one or two torches, which I never use.
