Arrow lag after shooting

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 3:39 am

There is a lag after I fire the shot and when the arrow actually shoots, Ill release the mouse, then anywhere from immediately to maybe 10 seconds after it will finally shoot, it seems somewhat random and varied, I will load a save and it will shoot immediately, and reload the same save to have a 3 second lag, I saw on another forum someone recommended shooting something while uncrouched, saving, then reloading, which seems to help sometimes but definitely not every time, this issue is pretty annoying as Im trying to play a bow only sneak, if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Are you using a frame rate limiter by any chance? like antilag or DXtory?

I was worried a limiter might be the problem, I am using one, but only because if I don't my magic messes up/ I get a wierd y axis stuttering with magic out

Does this mainly occur in indoor areas when your FPS are high?

If the in game VSync is turned on, it could be to do with your FPS not being in sync or something - What FPS have you set your limiter to? If you have it at 60 or 59, try 58 or lower (this seemed to fix the problem for me).

If that doesn't help, try turning up anti-aliasing to 8x and see if that helps (this will lower your FPS in indoor areas).

yes it does seem the worst in indoor areas, unfortunately for me, I maxed out my rig for skyrim, not knowing there would be these issues with FPS, so until modders come up with better ways to eat my resources I'm stuck at all max settings with room enough to spare that it messes with the game.

I have the limiter at 40 because it seemed to give the best elimination of my magic problem, Ill play with the limiter and try switching v sync off to see if I can get it going

Thanks for the help, much appreciated

You'll need to stop using a limiter to get rid of these delays. Try running borderless windowed mode (with vsync on of course) - seems to work best for most people.

the problem with that is I get horrible lag when moving along the y axis of view with magic out and no limiter, It might come down to using it for my mage char and not for my archer char, a little lame but hopefully theyll have a fix eventually

Ill try borderless window mode next time I have some free time to play though

You'll be glad to know next Nvidia drivers will certainly include a FPS limiter.

I really need it too because I have terrible high FPS indoor (120Hz monitor Vsync ON) and the physics are gone crazy.

Well...
