Glory of the Dead quest - invisible item is added to invento

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 2:08 pm

Hello all, I encountered a rather annoying bug when completing "Glory of the Dead" quest. Haven't been able to find any topics about it.

Whenever I complete the quest, and Kodlak thanks me and disappears, I seem to get some invisible item added to my inventory. It has a weight of 16 units. Pushed me over my limit. Was browsing through inventory and didn't find anything.
Am I going crazy?
I don't have any add-ons that could influence quests (just an add-on for extra keybinds).

Would greatly appreciate any help, or at least hear that I am not alone with this.

Edit: The 16 pound item gets added before I get to the chest with goodies. It happens just as Kodlak disappears.

Could it be a feather spell/potion/effect that runs out?

Have you tried dropping your items in the floor individually, to see if there is something in there?

It could be 4 Glenmoril witches heads. If you killed all witches in that cave previously and took all their heads (5 in total), you would get 20 units in weight. But as I noticed, sometimes quest items don't add up to the carrying weight after they've been placed into inventory. When you finish the Glory of the Dead, you use one of the heads to cleanse Kodlak's spirit. The remaining heads are placed into inventory once again, but this time they do count as an additional weight (which would be indeed 16, as I've been carrying 4 heads for a long time now and they weigh exactly that much).

I had this exact problem a few days ago with this quest. I couldn't find anything in my inventory that would explain it so I figured I had unknowingly used a strength potion and it had worn off.

The witches' heads possibility would make sense though. This game has so many bugs though, anything could be a possibility.

Even without the known bugs, this is true in a Bethesda game of this size lol

That was exactly it. I took them out of the inventory, and lost 32 pounds instantly! Amazing.

Thanks for the replies all.
