Very slow looting and chests

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 1:19 pm

So I'm halfway through a game and it's suddenly decided to take ages to load the inventory of corpses. It also takes about 10 seconds to load a chest in Breezehome where I'm keeping all the unique weapons and items I'm collecting. That's nothing though. It takes about 15 seconds for anything to happen if I take anything out or put something in, though the sound happens immediately. The last bit happens when looting corpses too.

This only happens in this particular game though. If I load a different character there are no problems. Unfortunately I don't have a previous save because I overwrite every time I save. I'm hoping you guys can help because I don't want to have to start over, AGAIN!

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I'm running Win7 32bit Ultimate. AMD Dual Core 64 X4200. 2Gb RAM. ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 512Mb.

Just a guess, I'd say your system is too slow to handle the game at later stages. You're game has lots of info to calculate and with your system specs so low, I'm not surprised its getting sluggish now, given the engine can get bogged down anyway.

Aside from a desperate upgrade, try waiting in game for over 30 full days, this will clear away any dead bodies and other things that don't need to be in your save.

It is extremely incautious to avoid keeping a normal complement of game saves. That video graphics card is very old for a gaming PC, and wasn't particularly competitive when new. It is now very Low End compared to what is needed. That CPU is also quite long in the tooth, and was only offered in the s939 and the original AM-1 sockets. By now, finding an update for it may be very difficult.

Hmm, well my other game is further along. In that one I've completed the main story, the brotherhood quests, the thieves guild quests, the civil war quests and myriad other side quests. The only reason I started again was because I couldn't become thane of Windhelm and a couple of other quests were broken.

In this game I've only done the main quest line and most of the thieves guild line.

It's a socket AM2 Motherboard and when I can afford it I'm upgrading to a Phenom Quad Core and a decent Graphics card. In the mean time, this system runs the game just fine on medium settings.
