Third post: Update: Still a Bug Report:
I'm sorry to say there's still something wrong when going through that door. I was fortunate to be able to finish the quest for the Elder Scroll/Lexicon but when I tried to go back, I could only get as far as the door to the Animonculory and the game crashes to desktop every time before I can enter. I missed doing the Sinderion part but I'll get it in the next game or try to get back into Blackreach through one of the other connected ruins. So bug report still in effect. Thank you.

Second post: See Post #6 this thread, problem solved at the moment, can continue game.

First post: Problem report: When I go through the Alftand door to the Animonculory, the world doesn't load. It's all white. I'll either fall through the world or I can jump to what looks like a platform but there's no place to go. I've tried leaving my companion outside and it doesn't help. I can go back to a previous save but since it's the MQ, I'm not sure if I can continue. I'll try going back and forward again and I'll return and post about it if it works. Thank you. :tes:

Edit: Ok, I went back to a previous save file and ran through the ruin to that door and it was the same, no change. World will not load, it's all white and I can see some pieces of the area but they aren't connected to make a solid world.

It's very strange and thank you for the advice. It reported 100% integrity on my files. Something that happened recently might be affecting me. I'll have to go back a level I think and quite a few hours but I enjoyed clearing that dungeon anyway for that sixth dragon priest mask and I can go back and do it later. After doing that dungeon, I went to the Solitude stable and there was a horse in the stable with no "steal" tag so I rode it.

After that, when I took a carriage ride, that horse traveled with me, fast-traveling too but I didn't actually own it so it would return to the stable when I dismounted. So then, since I hate horses dying, I got a mod to make the horse essential and it went home but I felt better. Even after unchecking that mod, I still can't get that Alftand area to load. I'm going to go back to an earlier save and run through section again without any of the horse event/save in it and see if that or the mod corrupted something. I just don't know what else to do on my end. Thank you again, guys...I'll post on this again if there's anything to update on the situation. I love this game. :tes:

Yay!! Going back to a Save from before riding the horse and having used that mod, has allowed me to enter that area and have it load just fine. I have no way to test if it was the riding the unowned but not stolen horse or the using of the mod but I'd advise everyone to NOT ride a horse they don't own! :smile:

Thank you again for the advice I was given...now I know how to do that also. I hope everyone's problems get fixed real soon! I love this game. :tes:

I hate to see horses and innocent people die too so I just click on them from the console and setessential. It seems to carry over in the saved games.

I tried setessential [#provided when you click on the horse] 1

and it told me it wasn't valid. I think I needed the BaseID#? And I didn't know how to find it for that horse. Maybe when the CK is provided, I'll be able to see the right #. For now, I've gone back and tried to recreate my gameplay without visiting that horse and things are working fine. It may have been a conflict in the mod too so I let the modder know.

I always reload when a friendly someone/something dies if I think I can do things better.

Third post: Update: Still a Bug Report:

I'm sorry to say there's still something wrong when going through that door. I was fortunate to be able to finish the quest for the Elder Scroll/Lexicon but when I tried to go back, I could only get as far as the door to the Animonculory and the game crashes to desktop every time before I can enter. I missed doing the Sinderion part but I'll get it in the next game. So bug report still in effect. Thank you.

Did you by chance explore Alftand before getting the main quest to go there? This is what happened to me. I was randomly exploring dungeons, tried to go through the door to the Animonculory and fell through the dungeon and landed on the wooden walkway outside the dungeon. I thought everything was ok, and went about playing the game. Many hours later I got the mainquest and went back. When I tried to enter the animonculory I had the same experience you do, I fell through a white mist, I can see parts of the dungeon and a lot of missing areas. When I landed I was attacked by Falmer and as soon as I killed one the game crashed to desktop. I tried again and took an invisibility potion as soon as I landed, there are missing rooms, doors and stairwells and you soon get a CTD. I went through this dungeon successfully on a subsequent character and it worked perfectly. The only difference was that I was very careful not to enter Alftand before being directed to in the main quest. This has nothing to do with horses, or the Steam cache, the save game data for Alftand is corrupted if you try to go through that door before the main quest lets you. Other quest doors in the game need a key to unlock them, which is an important safety feature which was unfortunately omitted in Alftand. I wound up deleting my level 45 Nord because there was no way to progress in the game and I didn't want to replay 40 hours with the same character because it had been too long since I entered the dungeon the first time.

Lost Scout...Yes, I actually looked through part of Alftand way early in my game and when I saw how large it was, I thought it had to be part of a quest so I went back out. That may have been around Level 15-20. I didn't do the MQ for a long time until now around Level 48 and went back. I had the "world not forming" bug going through that door but went back a few saves, tried again and was able to get in and continue the quest through to getting the Elder Scroll as I edited in my OP. I hadn't fully explored Blackreach so wanted to go back and now I can't get through that door again. It's CTD every time. Tonight I'll try to get back into Blackreach through one of the other two connected ruins and see if I can even get back in. It sounds like what you're saying but so far I'm able to continue. Fingers crossed because it's way too late to go that far back now. I'll post here again about it after I try. I'll just do what I can and if I have to, I'll make a new character...I have one in mind. They'll get this stuff fixed and I knew what might happen in the early version of the game. Good luck to you also and thanks. :smile:

Last night I was able to get back into Blackreach through Mzinchaleft and do the A Return To Your Roots quest. I'm fortunate there was another way in. I have reported this issue now on the Crashing thread that's stickied at the top of the page. Thanks again, everyone for the advice. :tes:
